    I've not used DTVN, but I find Sling TV + Roku to be vastly superior to any cable box setup I've been subjected to in the past.

    501c3 Foundations under US law cannot lobby the government. The Fellowship was created with the idea of promoting ODF to everyone -- including governments, so we chose to not go the foundation route, and some other people made up the foundation.

    As one of the founding members of the OpenDocument Fellowship http://opendocumentfellowship.com/ (although I no longer consider myself a member due to time constraints), I can say that in every effort made to get a real community going with ODF/OO.org there was always a pushback from Sun, and it's really sad to see. I don't think Sam is right that CDF is the answer, but I do think that his comments about Sun not caring about ODF are probably very true.

    OpenDocument is an already vetted ISO format. Why should we return to the back of the line now? We have our format, it's approved, and has support in many applications. No need to start bickering between ourselves when we're already fighting a lot of the corporate proprietary software makers.

    You know, the interesting thing is, so many people are trolling this, but if you are, you must have never been through VC funding.

    I had to make a list of /ALL/ open source software used ANYWHERE in the company. Yeah. Sounds like fun, right? It sure was. Either way, this app could've made my life a lot easier. :(. Too bad I see it NOW!

    That's because zimbra basically takes over your whole system. Own web+tomcat server. Own MTA. Own LDAP+MySQL. Own Amavis. We basically setup a RHEL box with Zimbra and said "it's an appliance" and let it do the zimbra thing.

    A kid (16 year old genius-type) broke his wrist, and used right hand dvorak. Now he's moved to full dvorak and liking it.

    Me? I'd get too annoyed switching between QWERTY (for helpdesk stuff) and DVORAK (for my own laptop/compy).

    I'd highly reccomend using some aggressive URIBL filtering -- that way, if someone gets blocked, you can be certain /they/ are the person you wanted to block.

    If you're using SpamCop, you will get hit with some false positives. SpamCop's list is agressive, and lots of innnocent servers get listed in their rbl. Especially if you ever want to recieve emails from people using ESPs (IntelliContact, Vertical Response, Bronto), then don't use SpamCop.

    You know what's interesting? By judging Myspace by a few idiots who use it, geeks are being superficial.

    Myspace is useful. It can be abused just like anything else (slashdot trolls+gnaa, anyone?), and using it in a good, proper way can lead to improved communications within your social group.

    I used to work for a place like this. Buyer beware. Not all of these places are legit, have good support, or know what the hell they are doing. I quit my job at a local computer shop because of some unethical and technically stupid things they were doing. I'd say to build yourself before using a place like that.

    I'm lucky enough to have a similarly good boss. He told me to stop working so much overtime when he found out I was working 20-30 hrs from home.

    I'm "Systems Manager" over a "Systems Engineer" and "Systems Intern". My direct superior is the "Technical Operations Manager".

    I got to pick my own title. I like it. I manage systems and the systems team. It fits. No BS, just what I do.

    The place I work at is great at hiring interns and putting them to solving real problems instead of seeking out coffee. Seven months ago I started there as an intern, and now I'm managing the Systems Department. Get an internship at a good, fast moving company, and don't look back.

    I can say the same thing... but not in the "a user may download it 17 times" way... I am the Systems Manager for a company with about 50 seats, and we're deploying it on -one- download to our local samba share... I'm betting there are similar cases so the margin of error on IE7 dls --> users is similar to the FFX 2 dls --> users margin of error.

    As someone who works for an Emarketing company (one of the good guys, no spam), I gotta second that -- sending your spam to abuse@ the domain that sent it can be extremely effective. Someone sent out some UCE from an account recently, and we got an a abuse@ email about it, investigated it, and disabled the account.

    abuse@ works, and is excellent.
