Heh, speaking of finger pointing, a friend of mine started at Stock Exchange very recently - the day he was given his admin account was the day the exchange went down.
Someone was either being very lazy or thought it was funny. I'm glad they didn't censor the forums to hell and back ala Apple...

The file was removed from the site over a week ago now and the matter is being thoroughly investigated by senior tech support managers here at Ubisoft.
Needless to say we do not support or condone copy protection circumvention methods like this and this particular incident is in direct conflict with Ubisoft's policies.
The NZ Police force have stated they are not offering him a job, yet somehow all the NZ media are saying companies are lining up to offer him a job. I've seen nothing but speculation and rumours.
While it's unfortunate that he has a form of Aspergers, the kid should have been convicted.
The battery lasts 3.5 hours on power saver with wifi on, 2.5 when playing DVDs. It comes with an Geforce 8600, which makes for a good gaming machine. Dell were even kind enough to not bundle software on it or the restore disc (if you ignore Vista and the lack of XP drivers). The design is great - lightweight and aesthetically pleasing.
What makes it even better, is Ubuntu works without too much trouble - the only issue that I've encountered is the Wireless doesn't always start up after coming out of sleep mode
There are a few annoying issues with it, like the lack of proper nvidia/sound drivers for Windows XP, the DirectMedia app (which tends to wipe the hdd partitions without warning) and, of course, Windows Vista...
Safari is not bundled with Quicktime unless you choose the first option
My main issues with the current beta are the lack of Proxy support, non standard UI. It also seems to break a lot of webpages that IE and Firefox display fine (check my website in Safari for an example - probably bad coding on my part). The upside though is it has a small memory footprint, faster, looks nice with my theme and improves my geek status.
I think new OSes might catch on if they're marketed more toward people who don't want to upgrade their computers and still have a speed boost running an OS that isn't as bloated as the mainstream ones.
I agree with that statement as well.
In a couple of months, my workplace will be upgrading approx. 1500 computers so they can run Windows XP. Why? Because Microsoft is ending support for W2k. That's it, no other reason.
Linux would run fine on these machines, if not faster than Windows 2000. The majority of our apps are now Java based and they run fine in either Linux or Windows. Certainly saves on buying new pc's every 3 years.
It would seem MS is getting patents like these in a delevoped country that has no strong competitors - nor a very strong head when it comes to things IT. This way, the patents will be in place before anything is noticed and the damage has been done.
Mind you, they are getting vague patents overseas (read America) such as this.
I'd be very interested in finding out who, if any, would object to patents such as these here in NZ.
This is a common problem with the AGP driver. I tore my hair out for a week before I found out how to fix it.
Switching the VIA AGP driver to the standard Microsoft one stopped all the crashes/freezes/reboots.
You can block them, go into your preferences and block idle
I bought one and am still wondering why I did
and you get to shoot them! What better use is there for Segways :)
I wouldn't like to maximize a window on one of these. Microsoft Word stretched across several monitors? Ouch.
I know certain Matrox software (and appropriate hardware) could limit it to one monitor, but it was flakey at best.
Now we know where that toolbag got to...

Im on my third motherboard. Got the laptop around the same time - the first one died quite colorfully.
Dell offered to refund me, less $300 for shipping and restocking (which is illegal to do in NZ). Bastards.

128mb? No wonder Vista runs like crap!
And by that, I mean the 900 model. Ergh.
The online store has already run out of the GSM 850 model.
...the Dell M1330 is a great laptop.

It's just an idle dig at Digg...

You have three options when you download Safari:

No, I was in my car... checking for lines...
Raven didnt add multiplayer capability, it was already there.

I have been the admin of relatively new Citrix setup in a rural hospital for a couple of months now.
What do I like about it? It's fast, efficient, easy to admin and great value for money.
That said, does anyone have any experience with the two open source programs in the blurb? How do they compare with Citrix and the like?
I find this interesting.
