My husband has suffered from severe chronic obstructive sleep aponea for a number of years. It initially presented as hallucinations, nightmares and mood swings - he was diagnosed as bi-polar and put on lithium. When that didn't help, in fact he got worse and start to have fits and seizures (both convulsive and vacant) he was diagnosed as epileptic and put on high doses of epilium which did nothing but cause him to massively gain weight due to the way it messed with his satiation triggers and he felt constantly hungry.
Unsurprisingly this led to severe depression.
Due to a serendipity we ended up seeing a different specialist because his regular doctor was off sick which led to him getting a real diagnosis, effective treatment (firstly a CPAP machine and more recently surgery to open up the airways further) and for the first time in years he is feeling better and is nearly off all the medication.
Ironically I just had my thyroid out due to thyroid cancer and am on heavy doses of Vitamin D.
We're generally a happier household than the previous paragraphs would suggest.
As someone who has suffered migraines for nearly 30 years, I was sent to a neurologist last year who started me on medication and a diet. In the intervening 6 months I haven't had a single migraine - which is an extraordinary long period between events for me (they were previously every 4-6 weeks on average).
The medication is two fold, anti inflammatories to manage vascular causes and Epilium & Endep to treat the electrical misfiring. He's hoping to wean me off the medication in the not to distant future. I am also supposed to be doing meditation exercises which I don't do nearly often enough but do occasionally.
The diet is about avoiding trigger foods, certain hormones and preservatives are high probability triggers. The usual suspects include caffeine, wine and fermented foods, aged cheeses, preserved meats, dried fruits and nuts - you know, all the good stuff.
As someone who prefers PVE to PVP and was a hardcore raider back in the day, I've found that cross-realm LFD and LFR has simply encouraged people to behave like twats, as per John Gabriel's Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory. I still enjoy a smooth LFR and I get really pumped when my guild drops a new boss for the first time. But the epeening (which really started to get out of hand in WotLK) is making things more and more unpleasant.
I recall running the latest raid dungeon segment on the day it was released to LFR and people were being dicks about people who didn't know the fights already./facepalm
Or in some cases, 'quality' TV. In recent years there has been a rash of new shows with great writing and excellent production quality. I'm finding it harder and harder to keep to my raiding schedule around all the TV I want to keep up with weekly.
I would assume that Numbers would be available on the iPad and it would be as good as any other spreadsheet package on a touch UI.
I recently acquired on of the much lauded in this thread Logitech Ultra-thin cover/keyboards for my iPad - if you want your daughter to work with spreadsheets, this may be a good option because it gives you arrow keys, something missing form the on-screen keyboard, which makes navigating spreadsheets much easier.
I recently shifted to Pixelmator when MacOSX 10.8 broke my CS2 compatibility. So far it does what I need, there's a little bit of a learning curve to change how you do things.
I'm still looking for what I will use instead of InDesign.
I'm an ad hoc amateur user who occasionally does stuff for gaming cons (entry forms, tabletop modules, etc...) and that kind of stuff.
I used to use Photoshop and PageMaker on a nearly daily basis in a former job.
90+% of the time I use my Apple Smart Cover on my iPad because it doesn't noticeably increase the size/weight of the iPad while protecting the screen from scratches. When traveling or if I know I am going to need to do extended typing.editing I would use the Logitech Ultrathin, it's about 2-3 times the weight/size of the smart cover, but is also magnetic - so changing covers is a breeze, and it gives me an almost full size keyboard with arrow keys for navigating documents more accurately.
Earlier this year I was involved in a collaborative writing project where all three authors were using iPads and the documents were hosted as goggle docs in a shared repository.
One author was using a 3rd party bluetooth keyboard, myself and the 3rd author were using the onscreen keyboard. For edits and proofing the workflow with the iPads and google docs worked really well.
I have subsequently purchased one of the Logictech keyboard for when I travel and want the capability to type longer documents. I frequently type shorter documents on the iPad onscreen keyboard directly.
I did that during the mid '80's - we used to put the results (collected on filter paper) pinned to notice boards around the school with labels saying they were homemade 'scratch-and-sniff' samples.:)
Due to a series of unforeseen circumstances, my year 12 Chemistry class ended up doing a significant portion of the year unsupervised when conducting chemistry practical experiments.
I had a copy of my mother's chemistry text book and showed a number of classmates how to make touch powder - which we did; and TNT which they voted that we didn't do - but would have had access to the raw materials and equipment to make.
While this was over 20 years ago, it saddens me that people have gotten so precious about practical science by high school students in what is a largely monitors and controlled environment.
/facepalm
Don't go giving creationists big ideas on how to explain away reality.
Can you name someone else you think would be better at doing Cosmos?

You are a bad, bad man.

Not in any way related to Ralph the Wonder Llama.
Damn, I just used the last of my mod points.
I wonder what happens if you reply to everything they say with "Interesting..."

Trepanning was as much about relieving pressure on the brain as it was about inserting things. Trepanning is still practiced today in extreme cases.

I originally read that as: impatient video game addiction rehab centers...
Maybe Netflix is spamming us with porn via bit torrent?
If I had mod points today I'd be tempted to mod you up simply because you seem to have embraced your bad karma rating :P

I thought he redefined the word sex. (I did not have sexual relations with that woman).

Is that like a self-basting troll? Mmmm tasty!
^ Mod this up
