  1. Re:Dear Riders ... on UK's National Rail Shuts Down Free Timetable App · · Score: 1

Down here in Melbourne, Australia we have a free app from Metlink (called Metlink), which gives you the timetables for all bus, train and tram services, including country trains and the after midnight bus service (public transport isn't 24/7 down here as yet).

Neat features included in this app is the ability to program a starting location, a destination and either a departure or arrival time and it will plot the most efficient route for you.

It also includes a feature reporting all service cancellations and planned disruptions (such as line works).

The public transit authority also have another free app which gives you real time location information for the tram system which taps into the same data as is used to populate the live arrivals boards at premium stops. This can be used to predict the arrival time at a specific stop of any specific tram (based on your current location).

This will minimise the effect the type of attack you are proposing could have, as increasing the load at a domestic level will simply result in your meter switching off supply. It will switch back on after a delay, and if the load is still over a given threshold, will switch off again. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Long gone is the day where a developer was expected to be expert in all roles form programming to sprite design to environments, lighting, storyline, marketing, etc... People are expected to be specialists.

The idea of partnering them up with students doing game development courses to do the programming is a good one. IF the FAS get interested in the coding aspect, they can choose to pursue it, but how about feeding their core strengths?

The principle isn't that different from how websites used to be mocked up on paper to understand the pathing and wire frames before you started coding it.

In theory, the modern idea behind gaining a life partner (wife/husband/de facto/same-sex partner) is to find someone you enjoy spending time with, sharing the better and worse, growing old with and on a mutually agreeable schedule bumping uglies.

Contrary to popular misconception - it is normal for women to have a sex drive and actually want to have sex with their partner. While it is possible that the frequency may not match exactly (it's not unheard of for females to want more sex than their male partner), provided it's close enough both partners will be happy.

If a VR partner enabled you to manage the desire gap effectively you'd probably be fine, but if your partner is left hanging because your giving it to a robot instead of them when they actually want it, you'll probably be ducking frypans and alimony settlements shortly.
