If Nessus, as they pointed out, has recieved little or no outside contributions, then they still maintain the copyright to their code. They can do with it as they choose. If they wish to release new versions of their software sans GPL, then that is their choice. Neither you nor I could do that since we don't own the copyright.
Tar file of the tape images, extracted files and extract software, 71Mbytes
This software was written in the 80s. Back then, all the programmers were supposed to have supernatural abilities and could, like, fit an entire operating system in 640K! What is this??!!! A modern JVM download is only 15MB.
Did I miss something? What is the motive for all this greediness? Are the record labels losing money? Are they about to go out of business?
If they keep up this behavior, its only a matter of time before Apple starts dealing with the artists directly. Why not?
The 19 copyright law professors, in a peer-reviewed discussion edited by Ottawa lawyer and Internet columnist Michael Geist...
Oh boy! That should be loads of phun to read.
I can hardly wait until this freshly painted wall dries.
Now Google, some believe, has a chance to rattle Microsoft by providing a cheaper, easier-to-use alternative.
What alternative?
I fail to see how Google and Microsoft's core products compete. Google's profit model depends on targeted adds and data mining for market trends; everything else is a loss-leader.
Microsoft derives nearly all of its revenue from Windows and Office; nearly everything else is a loss-leader.
Again, how does Google's success bite into Microsoft's profit margin? The web as a platform has its place. However, until my DSL connection is as fast as the bus speed between my CPU and memory, no web app will replace my operating system.
I didn't learn english by hearing. But by reading.
For a grammar and spelling Nazi, you are not very picky.
The word "English" should be capitalized; the quote, "But by reading", is not a sentence.

I assume this is an attempt at humor? It should not be so.
I was going for funny, but the slashdot mods found me insightful. Amazing!

If we bring back these creatures (a la Spielberg) and they get out of hand, we can just step on 'em.
You missed the point of my post.

Well, since we own the internet, make those American hours.
And biggie size it...with Freedom Fries.
We had a discussion about this the other day
My flux capacitor is out of whack; the earth now rotates ~every six hours.
The analogy is most certainly implied; please read the article.
Publisher is to Author as
...BZZZZZT!
Software User is to Developer
Use xplorer2 for all you file management needs. It is incredibly powerful and the price is reasonable (~35 US).
Note: I am not affiliated with this product other than being a very satisfied user.
it will never get out of beta
See? You really do only need 640K.
If I want to be notified of an appointment, my electronic calendar should handle this. There is no need to clutter my inbox (see OS X iCal).
Why is an integrated calendar and communications product a "good thing".
Why not include a file manager and image editor while we're at it?
I, for one, welcome our U.S. managing overlords.
Linux did NUMA first
I didn't know NUMA used Linux. Cool.

...honey, I shrunk my galaxy
I propose a slashdot-style mod system for the judiciary
...hilarity ensues.

um...some people can't take a joke.
Shouldn't this store be filed under "Your rights online"?
