I'd say a big copyright reform is needed, just because the current technology and society is still partially based on sharing, another part based on buying. I'm not against copyrights at all, it's just not viable anymore in it's current form. I'm from 1976 and till now I have not seen that much of support towards the common artist (which is you and me!).
Music has been always the cornerstone of any healthy community, years ago it used to be teached to the youngsters; singing hand in hand because there simply was no computer in every household. There was no Internet, no TV, PSP or anything electronic keeping the youth busy in free time except playgrounds, games, metal & plastic toys and friends! Music, has never changed that much; because it's still (even in it's current form) adored by young and old. When is the last time ago you've seen someone singing on the beat? (not always that good of a performance but..)
It's a part of everyone, just like Bach and Beethoven are known by any, the culture has been shifted the last few years to a buying model only. Currently only classics and oldies are in the Public Domain, rendering a lot of music useless as long as the copyright stays. Not really a big problem; IF; not misused at all, like we are all knowing the "Happy Birthday" song as classical example of bad copyrights undermining culture. Next to that, we're in the remix culture while most of the songs can't be touched; so far for a controlled fanbase?!
Just like we used to be very relaxed with computer security 20 years ago; which is unimaginable now-a-days; the music industry has been waiting, very relaxed towards the dimise of their own business model. Their business model is based more or less towards physical distribution while music stores and indie bands are growing like mushrooms out of the ground. Artists want to give extras towards their fans, while often being limited by the collection agencies. (read: Sabam, really for the common? for more info)
Copyrights in it's current form does not only demolish culture as it is, but also destroys a lot of historical heritage. For example, we cannot make a photo of the Atomium in Belgium without being sued or paying outragious amounts of money to the architect of that building; even if this photo has merely been used on a blog. We're in 2009 folks, not in 1990 where business was big through physical media, simply because no-one else had the money to buy the machines to make cd's, vinyl and other media.
I've been writing extensive about this on my blog in Music Industry: Wake up for alternative licensing. Artists need their copyrights, but more-or-less how THEY like to. We artists are investing thousands of euro's to create music while the music industry tells us how we can copy our own created music! That outrage got to be over...
1970, The original design of the famous Rolling Stones Tongue. It's designed in order by Jagger who wasn't satisfied with the logo's presented by his record company. It was designed by John Pasche, a student who got paid 50 pounds to make this design.
The logo represent the thick lips of Mick Jagger with a rebellish attitude of the band. It was first presented as cover for the album Sticky Fingers of 1971.
This most famous Rock logo is currently owned by the Victoria and Albert Museum in Londen, who paid a bit more than 50,000 pounds for the design.
By breaking out frames, got it covered in a blog post which was written because Digg didn't support rewritten url's of my new blog URL.
It's quite annoying behavior and I'm not very sure Digg is all-in-frames; since it's system doesn't (or didn't?) support 302's, while frames would.
Imagine, a site changes structure, while Digg isn't allowing the old articles to be accessed under the new URL. Their system protecting against misusage are giving legit people a headache...
We're in 2009 and still people are paying to receive messages; what's up with that?
At all places in Europe, receiving SMS is free; and sending doesn't cost that much either; making it a vialable tool to send a short notice or reminder.
Also the 160 character limit is non-existant with newer phones, splitting the messages in parts before sending. Some phones allow maximally 5 splits to be sent.
I'm trying to think sober, no conspiracies, but with the technology of today and current states of affairs..
A lot is going on around the world with the year 2012. Hunderds of believers think the world will radically change that time; A lot of believers also think there will be a world with many storms and many diseases...
Just think of the motive behind creating such virus towards the population and which they believe when you read the above two lines. Couldn't it be such virus could be created to fine grain control, using mass-hysteria through science? It has proven to work before.
Or is this really a bad mix of influenza, just coming from 3 parts of the world? (Europe, North America and Asia)
I'm just keeping on the line here, last time I checked it was engineers building bridges but now-a-days anyone can build bridges... The gap inbetween engineering and science is smaller than we think; how would we build the bridge if we didn't know any scientific background on this?
I'm truely convinced science and engineering walk hand in hand; else we wouldn't be engineering something based on parameters which we know about.
Not to be funny on the topic, but, my computer supplier once warned me Ethernet cables should be minimally 1 meter in length, or signal errors can occur.
Makes me wonder if this is true or false; not that I've needed that much cable which is shorter than one meter in length, but seen 30cm/50cm patch cables before too...
Did you had that nickname before or after the vasectomy?

So, basically, they could create lickable sheets with that process? ... Makes the Rolling Stones tongue suddenly look completely different ...
.. Do we have to welcome such slow robot brain? They are too slow to become our overlords anyways!

If those don't work one can always smoke and asphyxiate more ...

It's time to get out my wizards hat, stick and harmony meter!
These things work better than any 2,500$ costing TDR! It just measures harmony inbetween its pairs!
