"Grandpa, is it true that back in the old days music didn't have gps location built in? You didn't have to pay the record studio executives a fee when you listened to music in a different room of your house?"
"Hell, back in the day, we didn't even have the skin cell DNA identification built into the iPods!"
"OMG!!! You could listen to OTHER PEOPLES IPODS?? EWW!!! That is just wrong."
It seems to me that if the ISP has the right to shape traffic/ force resets etc, the customer should have the right to shape payments. If I sign up for 'up to' 10 Mb broadband, I should be paying 'up to' £Amount per month with the actual amount paid decided by me based on my own criteria, just like the amount of bytes i get is decided by the ISP based on their criteria. Let the ISP ring MY 'customer support' (during hours I decide to provide it) to cry about how I have shaped their monetary stream down by 90% from what they signed up for.
Yeah, I only encounter it on the intartubes and again only recently. I assume it is shorthand for 'I agree wholeheartedly with this'. I wonder if it from some tv show or something?
Hah, you losers might have crappy upload speeds, but I am with Virgin Media cable and that nice mr branson has recently DOUBLED my upstream speed! Ha ha! I now have EIGHTEEN THOUSAND BYTES PER SECOND upload. Read it and weep, bitches!
The UK gov also announced that it 'Really doesn't give a shit anymore' and will be opening the soylent green factories, imposing a curfew, recruiting Thought Police Officers, and 'Anything else we can think of, since the populace are disarmed and we can do what the fuck we like'. - Reuters
I, for one, welcome the end of 'free' internet traffic, as I am sick of those spongers getting something for nothing. I look forward to getting paid for storing cookies, looking at adverts, filling in forms etc.
Well, in theory you can use a gun for target practice, but if you have a gun at all you must be a crazy would-be mass murderer. Hence all guns (except those protecting Important People) are confiscated and guns are never used to commit crimes ever again.
Does Digital Forensics 101 mention whether LE will seize _all_ a corporation's computers from a site in the same manner that LE would seize _all_ an individual's computers from a site?
If you are the only one acting as an INDIVIDUAL in the chain, you will come off worst. Want to trade kiddy porn? Form a publicly traded company as a front, then any criminal downloading can be investigated 'in-house' with the details hidden for reasons of commercial confidentiality etc.
WTF are you talking about? How will the unmanned probes cause us to 'actually learn something' when the data will be withheld until it is lost and all that remains is the summary of the data in the form of press releases ("it is a bit chilly here", "no little green men so far")?
Can't we get the IRS to supervise NASA? You try telling the IRS that 'oh, every copy of that information got wiped by mistake' and see what happens.

Surely cloning a human from his nose is difficult enough without doing so in a rocket?
Hey! I resemble that remark!
Oh great, you had to mention zip drives. Now I am in a bad mood till I forget about them again.

I think 186 miles is a long way. I have a remote control for my tv so I don't have to move the six feet from my sofa.
No, they will be available as a PDF to _prevent_ you from printing your own.
Me.
Also during the article. Right buttock.

I think you will find it is '100 years after the death of the last surviving species member of the creator'.
I see both spellings. Chord seems better to me as they are shaped more like chords than cords.
and nobody yet has imagined a beowulf cluster of these? Standards are slipping!
Hehe, I was playing oolite http://oolite.org/gallery only the other week :-)

Moas are descended from dinosaurs, and we all thought they were extinct until they turned up behind the sofa.

Mmmmmmmm, grilled cheese sandwich. Brb.
Curse you! With only 16 comments so far, I was hoping to be the first to ask for a car analogy, but yours was cleverer!
You can possess a big stick, but you try carrying it around in public.
