I'm just wondering why there's been so many MS-fighting-spam stories. Has there been such a dramatic decrease in technology stories that this has to be mentioned everyday now?
whose eye doc told her to get up at least once an hour and look out of a window into the distance. He said her eye muscles that focus were getting weak becuase she was mostly looking at close objects. After a few weeks, her vision improved.
This reminds me of my PM class I had. In a nutshell, the instructor said that the requirements, then the specs, then design,..., then a project plan, then an end date is to be derived. The guy next to me who was a PM just shook his head and said, "No, the end date comes first and then we figure out how to get it done." I have had the same experience in my decade+ of experience. The instructor said that's why most projects fail.
Look at his career. He didn't want to be the pretty boy on "21 Jump St" or anywhere else. He quit. Now, he's considered to be a well respected actor and is very successful. If he stayed on 21, I don't think he would be where he is now. Granted, I don't think every actor can do what Johnny did. Look at Denise Crosby(Tasha Yar) of ST:TNG. She quit because she didn't want to be type casted and she hasn't done much - I don't know if that's by choice or not though.
How does it work? For scraping sites, does it rely on hard coding the location of the information? In other words, if the site is changed a little, does the information get scrambled?
no. you earned 40% less because you indicated that you would work for 40% less. I held out for a while, then I started to run out of money because everybody that I could find did this.
the more people act like this (the people suing HP), the less likely it is that other people are to be paid under the going rate. it's called collectivism.
No. They shouldn't have gone contract. Period.
The reason I incorparated was to go "corp to corp" with the agency. This allowed me to get a 20% increase in my rate since I was handling the tax shit.
Yes! I agree completely! I contracted because I hated being an employee. I also contracted because as an employee, I got sick of being forced to work over 40 hours all the time. When I contracted, I got paid to work over 40. And you know what, as contract, I never had to work over 40 - go figure!!
self employed contract workers. Back when I did contract work, I always had to go through a large agency because:
I wasn't on the preferred vendor list
I needed to have more than five employees working at my company
I needed to be incorporated - not much of a problem. My accountant did it for me for $75. When I asked why the hoops, I was told about IRS rules. When I pinned them on it they confessed that it was because they were afraid of what happened in the article happening to them. As a result, I earned 40% less because of people like the above. Hello, when you work for a contract company, you are treated differently: usually paid more then the regular employees.
This film is great -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111112/
But, I had to watch it a couple of times to understand everything. Still, it's not as bad as listening to the Scotts!!
Why not have the Biology Majors take engineering classes as electives, or the engineering students take Biology as an elective. This new major just adds more the the bureaucracy.
I, here in the good'ol US of A, have been marked down a few times on my papers at school because of "learnt". The sad thing is, I was in a graduate program that I just finished. And yes, it was a MBA program - thank-you-very-much. My classmates being mostly people who have english as a second language, thought that was perfectly fine. I having my favorite magazine being British (Economist), also thought "learnt" was perfectly fine. But my completely ignorant "American" professor took points off of our team paper.
my PointI don't have one. I need help getting a point. I learnt that everything is a team project in MBA school and I can't have an original thought!
or H1-Bs. I know of a few small companies that outsource much of their IT because they can't offord to hire their own staff and/or they just don't have the expertise in that area. Also, it wouldn't benefit them at their current stage of business. Where's the outsourcing company you ask - in the same town - using American workers.
Wait a minute. You're posting on/. !?! You can't be a geek...unless you really let yourself go. Like, after graduating, you just ate bons bons, Coke, beer, and pizza.

That cutting back leads to a cruel irony: the people most heavily hurt from an economic perspective are the many Palestinian workers who -- before the intifada started -- had good jobs in Israel.
This, my friends, is one of the reasons why violent actions should be used very very sparingly. Violence usually has a way of just polarizing a situation to the point where both sides are destroyed in the process. Just think how prosperous both sides would be if they kissed and made up and stopped this incessant fighting.
NOTE: I'm am not taking anyone's side. It's time for both sides to work it out regardless of the past.
To add: How many of those people have the high GPA because they played the grade game? Or how many of those low GPA people have low grades because they, for whatever reason, took extremely difficult classes - at least difficult for them? Such as Quantum Mechanics, Advanced E&M, or in my case, Grammar.
That's something you'll have to find out for yourself.
I for one got sick and tired of doing it professionally, but I like to do a little as a hobby and to learn new technologies. Other people I know i have been programming for decades (started in the 70's) and still love every minute of it. And still others burnt out completely. I guess it also depends on the jobs you have had.
I wonder how many "beliefs" are just subconscious conclusions about observations that scientists haven't developed a test for? Or in other words, their hypothesis.
OTOH, I wonder how often it's just a pipe dream - maybe like cold fusion?

I can't believe people are wasting their mod points on today's posts.
Yes! And they have a user ID in the 500 thousands?!?
It's a fraud! I tell you!! That user ID has been hijacked!!! Call th cops!!!

If it's written by Jews or Muslims. Definately not if it's from Spain. That might be a clue as to the originator.
Sorry, but I couln't let it pass! Not that I never make misteaks ithur!

Argue with her?!?! No way!! I made the mistake of questioning some of her reasonings and I got totally slammed!!
