That's the role of a "parent", interact with your children, letting them experience life, and answering the questions they have about what they experience.

We shouldn't need or want legislation to supplant the role of a parent.

  7. Re:$20? on HL2 Not Required For Episode 1 · · Score: 1

How many people ACTUALLY replay the same content over and over? Unless the game is so original it bears repeating (like the original HL1 did) then it is worth it.

I have a stack of games at my house, most of them "almost" get replayed, but become quickly boring after the first few levels.

With so many games competing for my dollars, a 4 hour game for 20 bucks is not equal a 20-30 hour game for 40$, that I can also replay.

If they want to do episodes (which is somewhat new) instead of sequels, then let's completely destroy the mold and make them 5-10 bucks...

i would actually rather pay 5-10 bucks for 4 "episodes" 6 months apart than one 40 dollar sequel 2 years later...

I think this esp. rings true for FPS, the only games i find myself playing over and over are RPGs (somewhat) and RTS like warcraft3, diablo2, morrowind and NWN.

With RPGs there are new classes to explore, and different ways to play the game (evil or good like in NWN). Similarly with RTS you can try new strategies to complete the same objectives...

I find with FPS the only change is increasing/decreasing the difficulty, and even that isn't so hot when I know every spawn and puzzle trick to pass the levels...

I think you are confusing the policing of morality with consquences for actions, the "morals" you have defined, "rape, murder, unprovoked assault, and so forth" effect other people and should have consqeuences as such, since our constitution attempts to defend it's populace against things that would interfere with their life liberty and pursuit of happiness.

What the government should not do is attempt to define FOR ME what is right and wrong, I should decide that for myself and my children (and when they are grown they can decide for themselves), the only time the government should be involved is when my actions affect another person's above stated rights granted under the constituion... I always thought it might have more to do with roles in society, men doing "harder" more dangerous work (although I for one can attest that being a mother, and raising children is certainly not "easy") causing men to die earlier in life, but this study might show that if all other things being equal, women might have a leg up... if they had borne children?

Advertising is everywhere, movies tv newspapers, websites, Gaming was the last refuge where I could leave all of that and ejoy my entertainment, seeing as how gamers will not benefit AT ALL from this added advertising (no price break in games, no added content for the games in terms of maps, guns, characters) how can this be a good thing and why are people so accepting of it?

I can see the point of "adding realism" to games such as bill boards, but we already had that with "fake advertising" in games, and the reason it doesn't bug me when it is fake is because it doesn't remind me of the real world I am trying to escape, instead it helps immerse me in the game world (look at billboards in postal 2).

The more we accept this the more watered down our games will become to the point that they will be games built around opportunites to advertise to their "key demographic".. come on people..
