Of course, crowding varies with time of day, train or bus line, etc. However, if you manage to get a seat, I think watching a movie or recorded show on a portable video device would work out just fine.
Perhaps mass transit isn't used much in Montana or the Nevada desert, but in the NY/NJ/CT metropolitan area hundreds of thousands of people use mass transit on a daily basis. Actually, I'd be interested to find out the ridership figures for the metropolitan region compared to ridership in other major cities.
I commute into NY from NJ via commuter rail and then take the PATH subway to my destination. I see a good number of people watching movies on portable devices. The potential customer base is huge.
One of my responsibilities is GroupWise administration (others include managing a Citrix farm, supporting Blackberry and Treo handhelds, managing accounts in our eDirectory tree, etc). I and a colleague manage about 3200 GroupWise users in our region - part time.
Then you have monkeys for admins. My colleague and I administer the NY portion (about 5000 users) of our global mail system. Server software upgrades take all of 5 minutes. Servers never crash and performance is zippy. As with most products you have to know what you're doing.
What kind of WAN speeds does your company have? Mine uses either T1 or T3, which is what, 1.5 Mbps and 45 Mbps, respectively? Network is 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps.
My Cablevision home internet is 10 Mbps down/1 Mbps up.
In both cases, the limiting factor is the Internet/WAN connection, not the LAN/network.
Some of us refuse to pay extra for a cable box and connect the analog cable directly to our VCRs or TVs.

The level of generalization I'm reading here about US schools being awful is a tad extreme. The whole question of education is complex and contrary to what many may believe, there is no ONE way that would satisfy and work for everyone.
I attended public school in NYC until 7th grade. I then moved to New Jersey and attended public school until graduating from high school. I can honestly say I think I received an excellent education. I went on to college and got a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
I think several people have already mentioned the following:
Education starts at home. Parents must set a good example (behavior, intellectual pursuits, arts, etc) and also demand excellence from their children. It's true that there's a pervasive anti-intellectualism in this country - I don't know why. With high parental expectations and support, a student can get a decent education in even the poorest of schools.
Teachers need to demand excellence. They need parental support as well as support from their administrators.
Not everyone is destined or able to be a genius. There is nothing wrong with pushing kids towards vocational education.
Deemphasize sports. Gym class is fine. For some reason, it's OK to excel in sports, but not academics.

Oh, Oh, clutching at heart...
Too funny. If I had mod points...
Crap like spelling? :-)

GroupWise server agents can run on Netware, Linux, and Windows. It has native clients for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.
Novell eDirectory and GroupWise, nuff said.
Show me somebody running at high RPM in 5th gear and I'll show you somebody who's not saving gas.
If you run at high RPM all the time, then most likely you are running in a low gear which means you're going slow.
After two days at college, I had my class schedule memorized. I don't get why one would need a PDA for that.
Party on Friday? No way I'd forget that either.
Actually, if I remember correctly, the max you can get with wired ethernet is 80% of the nominal speed.

That's news to me. I've gotten some nice sun tans on my left arm while riding inside a car with closed windows.
Potatoe?
Dan? Dan Quayle? Is that you???
Is that a variation of vegemite? Or vegimite? Or vegamite? :-)
Couldn't help myself.
The proper spelling is legitimate.
Er, there was not one misspelling in ndtechnologies post. What are you talking about?

Another well known method is to compound supercharge, that is, use both crankshaft driven and exhaust gas driven compressors to maximize power output.
Afghanistan was already in the stone age. The Taliban made sure of that.
True, it exists in virtual form, but it's just not the same as a printed copy. I can't sit back in bed with my PC and comfortably read it.
That would be "wreaking havoc" not "wrecking havoc."
Who is this mysterious "Noone" everyone keeps referring to? :-)
I'd say it's more a game of skill like pool, bowling, or darts.
