of course everything is broken. but noone wants to admit it (especially you, you ac). it's safer to at least *try* to win the competition than to really challenge it in itself.
nobody wants to hear exactly this kind of stuff and ask these questions over here.
the german school system has degraded seriously since i 'enjoyed' it. the kids are under more and more pressure, but if you fail, it's only your fault. because you're lazy. it's never the systems fault. if you're treated unfairly, your fault. you're an outsider and laughed at by the others? your fault.
this whole systems is becoming more and more a radical filter to push out good portions of our society. the worst thing that can happen to you in god ol' germany is that you fail school at some point, are undereducated, don't get a job, no further education. that's the real german stigma. unemployed and even worse: lazy. then you 'failed' society. this is pushing a hell of pressure on you in our educational system.
and that's what happened to this guy. he failed school at a point where it's really hard to get a job. especially now. but, his parents are supposedly pretty well established (porsche etc.). maybe pressure from his parents? you bet.
oh well i forgot. it was just 2h playing counterstrike.
i think that's the most important attitude, and he seems to have it. i know so many 'programmers' who think they're some kind of professional geniuses worth a million bucks because of some simple assignments they've done. some good grades seem to prove this for them. some of them are so 'good' to the point where they go searching for bugs in gcc, libc, kernel, whatever, though they just made some common mistake - like we all do - but see their debugger pointing at something else. i had people explaining me their code is correct because no tripped segfaults prove that it's correct.
this all gets really stupid if they're so lazy they don't want to learn from more experienced guys. (just look at those fscking EXT4 bashing threads recently)
just don't be like that. i wouldn't even dare claiming i am an expert or even good C/C++ coder. the only thing i would claim is that i am getting better and gaining more experience by the day. keep on learning, i'd say is the most important issue here.
"hello! i am your friendly helpagent clippy! what do you want to do? wage nuclear war? or just launch a conventional cruise missile? learn how to do that here."
in soviet russia, lawnmower control YOU!
So now what?
