"I have tracked turtles through some storms in the past and never saw any sort of movement that suggested they were trying to get away from the storm (or that the storms shifted their paths). The turtles I tracked were larger juveniles -- at that size they can dive 100s of meters deep."
Why did this bring up images of the sea turtles from Finding Nemo?
Oh, man. Hey, no hurling on the shell, dude, ok? Just waxed it.
You have a killer idea that you think you can make money on, but healthcare is holding you back. Seems to me that none of the other booms, industrial or tech bubble, had anything help from "Obamacare" but were still prosperous.
I concur. I am in my second year of obtaining my CS/Math degree w/ teaching cert. I get the same question,
student: oooh, you can write programs.
me: Nope, I don't like to program
student: wait, then why are you getting a CS degree
me: because I want to be more rounded around the science of computers and, and CIS or tech school is for coders
student: you don't know what you are talking about.
I get it at least once a week at the university (in the Engineering/Comp Sci building no less)
I want to teach CS on a high school level, since jobs are scarce, and I cannot do it without a degree. This is more of a backup to working for DoD as my university has a NSA grant and certification.
I learn pentesting and anything else I see that is relevant to Comp Security in my spare time (usually over the summer)
We kind of frown upon the slave labor that the Chinese and Irish (and others) that were used to build the railroad. If I remember my history correctly, the US government gave the train Barons the land and I think subsidizing them. There was very little population (aside from American Indians) out west. It will probably take 20 years to settle Eminent Domain cases and another 10 to build the rail lines.
I worked on a survey crew to build an outer loop around a mid sized city. The first survey was done in 1984, I worked it in 1998 and they didn't start building until 2003. We did have a few fun run-ins with angry landowners and their shotguns.
Michael Crichton wrote a book about how we thought we could control thousand of nanobots using swarm theory. I wonder if they are using algorithms derived from bees. As long as we don't develop AI anytime soon, I think we are safe.
Now I will have to find something to do with all those extra CDs that I will be getting, wanting me to install their "browser". I wonder how many free hours I will get....
for the uninformed about nuclear weapons in Iraq go here.
And as for the WMD read the full Duelfer Report and see what Saddam was really up to. He was bribing Kerry's biggest allies (France and Germany) with oil contracts (who was coalition of the bribed??), and was trying to get the sanctions lifted so he could continue his WMD production. Even Clinton knew that he was making them, Blix knew, and so did the UN. Before you go off on a Micheal Moore propoganda trip, read the real facts.
I know Bush is not a very popular president, a lot of people are angry about Florida 2000, but would you rather have someone who you know to make the right descision based on his morals or someone who takes a poll everyday and changes based on that data.
Wasn't the Hindenberg just a giant fuel cell? That is my worry with hydrogen cells...very flamable. Depending where they are in a vehicle, they could make the Pinto look like a firecracker.
I think that most of Europe is open to different OS's, especially since the EU sanctions on M$. This could actually work there. I doubt it would work here. I don't remember Wal-Mart's Linux computers doing much. I never saw them in any of the stores around where I live. It would be great if this works, but I just don't see it happening. Wal-Mart's weight in the US didn't do much for Linux, I am not sure if Dell's would. I applaud them on the effort.
The company plans to convert existing production facilities into ones able to manufacture the new product. The company expects the price of the new battery to be about the same as nickel-hydrogen cells when mass production starts, since it does not contain any expensive materials.
NEC is also developing a recharger for the battery that can be used at home as well as working on a way to prevent excessive discharge of power from the cell.
so...the batteries will be cheap, but the recharger will be the moneymaker? Am i correct in my assumption.
sorry, just screwed up my sig. had nothing to do with the post.
Microsoft Windows: A thirty-two bit extension and graphical shell to a sixteen-bit patch to an eight-bit operating system originally coded for a four-bit microprocessor which was written by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition
just trying to be funny with my sig. n00b on the/.-er posting. Sorry for the confusion everyone
Found this article http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/03/31/news_60926 05.html referring to blue-laser disc technology on the PS3
"Currently, BD-ROMs can hold up to 25GB of data--about five times the volume of a standard DVD disc--and double-layered 50GB BD-ROMs will be appearing within the year"
The timeline article mentioned above is dated April 9, 2018. How is this new news?
I get my movie commentary from Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbet

Not bad at all for something that was planned to last only about 3 months, if it made it past the "beachball" landing.

We all know it's coming, that is why Apple wouldn't do it. What prior art? On a side no
I misread and thought that said Mike Nelson. Got excited about a Rifftrax about quantum computing.
Somebody reads too much Michael Crichton
Wasn't a knife used in the murder?

With and ISP name like that, I think someone in Comcast's PR department has a BOFH excuse generator
I thought it was NISA? http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=insecurity
The Bastard Operator From Hell is going to be pissed that he didn't think of this.
Apparently the choir does need some preaching to. Last I checked herehttp://www.viruslist.com/en/viruslistfind?sear ch_mode=virus&words=linux there were a couple of viruses out there for linux and here http://www.icsalabs.com/html/communities/antivirus /macintosh/archives/macvirus/reference/viruses.htm l for Mac virus. This is not saying that one OS is better than another, just saying don't be so naive. I run both Linux boxes and Windows boxes, and I know, I have to be more careful about where I go with my M$ box.
Now I will have to find something to do with all those extra CDs that I will be getting, wanting me to install their "browser". I wonder how many free hours I will get....

My 2 cents

someone make sure this fool is checking out the lava dome when it blows
Lets see how long this takes before it ends up on Ebay.
