So, Obama aides asked for identities of hundreds of US citizens. What about the request of mass information of millions of voters by tRump's cross-check commission, er election commission?
I worked in a cubical environment where the bodily noises were people motormouthing - chatting to each other from their desks as if there were no semi-partitions. Just crank up the volume if they had problems hearing each other. Or talking loudly on the phone, or using speaker phones. Or 4 or more people 'grabassin' about their weekend. When I complained to one "colleague" I was informed that the person would NOT keep it down. A reorganization (reduction in cubical size) resulted in us being separated to different locations. The BIG BOSS who supervised the space allocation always had a big, very private office.
I continue to use Ubuntu, which for me has the best, most reliable installation and setup. I have several machines so I have tried other distros but stick with Ubuntu for my main machine. Suse 11.1 installed flawlessly. I tried 11.2 and it would not find my wireless - and I gave up. Mint now resides on the desktop - for the time being, but I still prefer Ubuntu.
Are you by any chance the tech support guy who, when I was locked out of my e-mail account, e-mailed me the the password change that he made to the account to resolve the issue?
For the first time in a long time I had a bit of difficulty in installing Ubuntu - my wireless and network cards were not recognized on the first two attempts. I recall reading that 9.10 was supposed to boot faster, but so far I haven't seen it. I like the opening screen (but don't like having a default log-in user identified (need to find and change that setting). Some of the sound-related settings have changed, so I had to rely on google to figure out how to turn off some obnoxious bits. Otherwise, no major complaints.
Ah, but Islam has a God, so are we a Islamic nation? Or Hindu's have Gods, so are we a Hundu nation? And some of the most "moral" people I knew are Communists, or at least their governments are, so does that make us a communistic nation? Christianity doens't have a corner on mottos, morals, or laws.
Some years ago I was a candidate for a team leader / chief technical advisor position for a development project overseas. Part of the process was a couple hours of psychological testing by a psychologist who had just finished his studies in the US and was suffering from jet lag having just returned to his home country.
We did a bit of psychiatric testing-related stuff, then we waundered off into computers and the technical problems he was experiencing - we probably spent 2/3rds of the time talking computers.
I got the job by the way.
Ah, Slashdot, where you can get the simplest, most suscint explanations!
I was surprised to go to a 12 noon showing on Saturday and there were around 20 people or so. Not the makings of a blockbuster attendance.

Better to quietly pay for new drones, bombs and other expensive toys, right?
Us poorer peons back in garbage class do the same because of better seats, better food, better service, and friendly cabin crews!!

Who uses the term maize? Probably most non-US citizens. A Peuvian friend educated me on my misuse of the phrase "Americans".
Google should just go directly to NSA, request access to the "lock box", and cut out the middle delays.

'Once again Microsoft's monopoly means Windows is swallowing up another market.'?????????? I have a hard time blaming Microsoft for end-user laziness.
