I agree with you, however you can't be arrested for not adhering to "simple decency". We all wish it was an ideal world, but it isn't. If everyone went by those rules, there wouldn't be a NEED to have laws restricting people.
There are no backflips. I don't really think this is a big enough issue to warrant Google complaining, but I consider myself pro-Google. The fact is that Microsoft included their own search box, and MS makes the browser AND the search engine. It is a completely different story with the Firefox/Google business. Google didn't ask Mozilla to have their search box included, the Firefox team asked THEM. There is no monopoly there, it is fair competitive practice. Microsoft is wedging themselves into search because they make both. Any attempt to connect the two situations is truly irrelevant.
IE7 is developed by Microsoft and that is where I would complain. firefox isn't made by google, that was mozilla's choice, and it doesnt reflect a product they are developing, hence it doesnt reek of anti-competitive..(ok that might be a bit extreme, but still)
i use firefox all the time, with little or no problems the instant i start internet explorer, my system seems to go haywire, and it has made me completely avoid using iexplorer now, i know that firefox may have more vulnerabilities, but until i have a single problem with firefox, i'm sticking with it
I have read this book as well, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm still a college student in CS and found most of it informative and interesting. It was not without its low points, however. A good read, IMHO. 95% non-bullshit.
Great, just great. I move out of the freakin terrible state of Ohio to go to college, and one good thing comes to ohio, this linux convention. i cannot win!
this is probably a stupid question...but since for some reason i cannot get the ubuntu page to load, or anything else on their servers, i need to know if this runs the 2.4 or 2.6 kernel i'm trying to configure it to run under vmware...any tips? thanks
awwwww man! i live in canton, ohio too bad it doesnt reach here!!!! but yeah thats cool for dayton, i just want it here so i can stop paying for my fricking internet!
yes, my school has dropped world history as well i'm a high school senior and am currently taking music theory (which was worthless), spanish, ap government, Astronomy (worthless), AP Calculus, and AP British Literature
ive taken every computer science course in the school, and i get Bs in them all. Why? because the tests are not tests of computers. rather, they are tests to see if you can read the book and complete sentences out of those books. Questions such as "What is the difference between a class method and an object method?" were found in abundance in an AP Java class! I took Java and then AP java the next year, and found that the courses were identical. Good if you want good tests scores. Bad if you want to learn.
users wouldn't get free xm, would they? that would definitely be a downside for me (i have a 4th gen ipod)...
or maybe they could come up with some sort of prepaid plan for xm....either way, like the article says, the battery life required for something like that would be enormous...probably an impractical battery size by today's standards...
google seems to be just absorbing so many things
could all these things possibly hold up? a browser for example, doesnt really have a chance to overcome internet explorer, only because there are already several other choices, e.g. mozilla/firefox, netscape, opera, the new aol browser (i dont remember which one it is built off, i think netscape).
However, I sort of like this idea....just my two cents
:~D

yeah, you are right, i should be grateful that we have cs courses at all...but they suck SO much, the teachers are all completely worthless...

long live open source!!! YEAHHHH
if you can still copy cds...how does that provent pirating?
:~D
personally i think its stupid to prevent ripping when you can simply copy the whole cd for somebody else....
