How has the USA PATRIOT Act affected you, personally? How has it interfered with your personal and professional life? Has this act influenced your Presidential vote?
I'm not at liberty to say...
that most people are allowed to drive at all
most people can't pay attention to what's going on around them with no distractions the other drivers they are all usually doing one or more of the following simultaneously.
eating
drinking / DRINKING
"grooming"
yellin at the kids
yacking to someone in the car who is on the phone with someone else
making friendly gestures to other drivers
changing the cd's in the changer (or one at a time)
while trying to solve some problem with the person on the other end of a wireless connection.
and trying to convince your significant other that it's cool to service you at 70 mph while you pick your nose...

Because th Times has a very broad Nation Wide readership that actually spans a very broad demographic. Wheras no one bright enough to tell the difference between thier browser and their desktop actually "reads" USA Today other than giving a quick glance at the sports after they trip over it on the way out of thier hotel room. Mostly because there isn't a lot there to actually read. USA Today is utterly worthless...
t first read I was inclined to agree with you, mostly. But the problem you are describing is a problem with applied management theory not with introductory broad stroke books. The problem you are complaining about is that managers are not required to understand what they are managing other that the budget and is an entirely different discussion other than the bit where these managers seem to use such books to garner some understanding of their responsibilities so they don't feel at the mercy of the technically competent. Yes it almost always fails and causes endless grief unless the manager uses it to develop a learning relationship with his technical staff.
I think that books of this nature can be of a great deal of use. First they must be accurate presentations of the subject and forthcoming about the areas where the information is less than complete for practical application. Secondly, if they are applied as I would expect they are intended to be, as an introduction to a subject so persons who intend to pursue the subject more deeply can pick up more detailed references without being lost.
The books aren't the problem. The people are the problem. Any thing can be misused.
What makes you think that these decisions were George's to make...
all the evidence syas that hes a pedantic idealog being manipulated by the far right of the Republican Party and others that can only be described as Fascists... Is George stupid ? well he does like to keep things simple so he doesn't have to think to much. Is George evil? Probably... in any case he's willing to put global political asperations over the good of the country and the rest of the world. I'd call that evil.
Jar-Jar and son. The rollicking misadventures of the elderly Mr Binks and his more articulate son as they attempt to make a living as scrap dealers on various backwater planets of the Republic
All JAr-Jar all the time.....
The private automobile and the infrastructure needed to support house and maintain it is already a climax technology and all the new gadgets and alternative energy sources aren't going to make any difference in the long run. The true future of transportation is feet. This of course is after the collapse of western civilization which is already groaning under it's own weight....
but seriously... The near(er) future in urban areas should be mass transport not individual automobiles. In a densly populated area such as a city where most of the vehicles are individual automobiles are an absurdity. Do a small spacial dislocation exercise and hover over a large city, say Houston, or L.A. or Paris or Hamburg and look down at the roads and vehicles and the absurd waste of materials time and energy and on and on. Mostly for people to move around for very little reason while moving tons of material around, using huge amounts of energy to move one or two people and and an occasional bag of groceries. And then remember that the raw material for fueling and more importantly building the vehicles is in increasingly short supply. Now you should realize that all the new tech being tucked into automobiles is there for marketing and for nothing else.
A sane society would be designing transportation systems not building more of the same krap with extra toy value.
So go and buy your way cool toys but don't fool yourself into thinking that is anything more than that. Any utility gained by your new features is of marginal significance. You may as well by spinny rims...
see pond...
see algae bloom
see algae bloom kill everything in the pond
see algae die out too...
all natural
people are natural too and with about as much ability to curb their own grwoth as the algae...
This is exactly my job at the moment... and while a some might see this as just another "opportunity" to be met on the road to producing a profitable product... It still sucks...

The bone phone marketed to "Joggers" back in the '80's IIRC used the smae method of sound transmission.. I have no idea how well it worked...
