    Fragile? Obscure? Guess you don't need the registry. Apache hasn't been that hard to configure, once I figured how to make the directories accessible. Can you make Windows file sharing work with Linux boxes? Is configuring XP's software firewall that much easier than using Yast? It may be harder to configure X, but at least I can restart it without rebooting.

    Does Java have an equivalent to Python's eval()?

    That is, is there a Java function that will accept a mathematical expression in a variable and evaluate that expression for a guven value of that variable?

    Note: for those of you playing this at home, set your calculator's angle mode to radians.

    3x10^7 (the number of seconds in a year) to get 6x10^11, or
    600,000,000,000 years.

    a cubic foot, and roughly 61 cubic inches in a liter. Dividing 1728 by 61 yields a quotient of about 28.

    EXPORT EDITOR (along with everything else).

    Academic (Student/Teacher) version of Microsoft Office is only about $130 at Staples. That means savings of about $130,000. Of course, Star Office includes a database program.

    Or PostScript. I like doing graphs using PSTricks in TeX/LaTeX. To do so requires entering the formula in raw PostScript, which is in RPN.
