"Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged)? nobody has heard of this outside of the US. On a litterary viewpoint it's nothing more than a loooong rant. Extremely monotonous."
Have you ever finished it (or even read it at all)? I'll grant you the first 1/3 is slow going, but I read it before my illumination as to Ms. Rand's political bent and I still thought the story was quite engrossing (that from a guy who lives/dies by Ren and Stimpy;-)
Just a thought. I had a fan die on a ATI Radeon recently and got the same response as you (RMA...new card...blah blah blah). I was ordering some other fans when I bought a fan kit for setting up a 90mm fan over the card slots which blows down between the cards. Obviously not as good as perpendicular to the heat sink, but worked for me.
I agree with your concept, but cannot agree with Myst (and the others of that type). Even after figuring out the puzzle, quite often I was made to cover large distances to perform tasks. Having to repeatedly click through multiple "scenes" to go and return quickly became mind-numbing.
This is exactly the point. You have already paid the licensing fee when you receive the Win version of the software. You should not have to pay again to use another OS.
I'm curious. Every DVD drive I've bought (Newegg, other online sources) has come with the software as a bundle. Prices have been good, but not quite as low as you mentioned... $90. Is your concern just saving a few $$ after scouring the web for the lowest price OEM drive?
This is only about the difference between the time it takes for the sun to reach the same point in the sky each day, and the the time it takes for the stars to appear at the same point in the sky. These times differ by the ~4 min. daily.
Leap year, however, involves the correction for the fact that the solar day is slightly greater than 24 hrs. (only slightly). This requires the leap year to correct for the overage.
No time schemes are based on, nor are concerned with the "astral day" of 23:56, etc.
Hey AC! Turn on the sarcasm tuner! The parent was an excellent parody on the state of oil reserves regarding supplies of ideas in hollywood (obviously we have MUCH more oil in reserve).
You've got me confused. I've got the LOTR extended sets out so far in the widescreen edition, yet when I play them on my machine the video display window adjusts to 16:9. It is only when the window is expanded to full screen than the black letterbox "bars" appear. How does this render these widescreen DVDs useless after 4:3 is no longer the standard?
The US criminal justice system is already so clogged with caseloads that we penalize those who choose to go to a jury by giving them 5X longer sentences if they are guilty than we give those who plea bargain.
So...YES, let's not waste time feeding the lawyers over trivial things like ensuring the continued wealth of the RIAA.
I'll agree there are a good number of followers of eastern religion, but MOST?!?! Name me one Western religion that doesn't have a heapin' helpin' of vengeance mixed in with the goodness and light.
I call bullshit!! All he is asking for is a default boot configuration to CGA, EGA, VGA, etc. Even if I install a new card into an old Windows OS (e.g. 98) which has no driver info for it, the OS will still boot up under a default graphics config that will at least allow me to download new drivers. Unless you can tell me different, I do not believe there is any special Gates protocol for autonegotiation of default graphics settings which could not be implemented in Linux.
Kudos on the low hardware cost, but if it is going to choke on HD video what kind of a media center is it (or is this a low cost viewer for 10s pr0n)? Even with the increased clock speed, it is still likely to stutter on high quality DivX as well.
MOD PARENT UP!!!
I have been using Windows since 3.0 and I have never had a problem with trojans, spyware, etc. Things are more sophisticated now with broadband/always on connections so I too run behind a NAT router and a software firewall to inform me of outgoing communications.
It is simple, whenever I am asked (or informed by the firewall) that something is to be loaded that I am not completely _sure_ what it is... I do NOT allow it. I am sure someone out there in/land can provide an exception, but this problem is preventable (if only the clicky-clicky mentality was...)

FUD and bitterness... I agree that Real has been a PITA both as to installation and finding the free player, BUT it now IS only two clicks away. At least check some of your facts...
(no I do not work for/associate with Real yada yada)

Of course, YMMV

Here's what you get responding to AC trolls...
