I'm pretty sure you can't tell someone their job is moving, and that if they don't like it, they can just quit, and get no compensation. IANAL but my state, Texas, is an "at will" employment state. The employer OR employee can end the employment relationship at any time for any reason as long as it's not an illegal reason e.g. (race, religion etc). You have zero recourse.

Yeah I should have paid closer attention to the GP I was originally responding to. I was trying to answer a question which upon reading it again he didn't really ask. So my answer doesn't make sense. You did give a great explanation of how the lotto really works. I was simply trying to point out that your not better off by trying to buy more tickets. So I used the simplest example I could think of, a coin flip.

The problem with that "sure fire" method to win is multi winners. Often On the big jackpots they end up split. So even if I had 107 million dollars to buy all the combos I'm still making a wager that I'm the only winner.

Assuming you choose different numbers for each ticket, your odds of winning would go up however your odds of losing go up at the same level. Take your 50/50 example. You buy 1 ticket you have an equal chance to win and lose. you buy 2 tickets you have a 100% to win one and 100% to lose one. still 50/50 odds. In other words buy 1 ticket or 2 each have the same odds. The real question you should ask yourself is how much voluntary tax do you want to pay? I pay enough in tax's, therefore I don't pay extra to the lotto.

I used to be very protective of my email the same way. However no matter how hard I tried one of my relatives, or business relationships would be careless with my address and it would inevitably end up on many spammers lists. I tried several anti spam tools but I couldn't get any that were satisfactory to me. It was getting so bad I was ready toss my email and get a new one. Which would have been a real shame, as my email is myFirstname@Mylastname.com. Anyway I signed up for gmail's my domain deal. Since then my account has been spam free. Well the inbox is spam free the spam folder usually has about 3000 spams(they are auto deleted after 30 days.) Now I don't care. Out of habit I'm still somewhat cautious But I don't really have to be.

My guess would be from a practical point of view you could file your idea with the copyright office and prevent yourself from being sued for infringing on someone else's patent that was filed after you filed. however if you wanted the protection of a patent to sue others then you better go through the patent process. That was my first instinct too. Just the other day I heard on NPR I believe, they were talking about the length of time it takes for a patent to get through is 24 months. They also said that the each patent officer has a quota to get through and the quota has stayed the same since the offices inception even though the complexity of the patents and the amount of documentation that comes with them have increased several fold. They said that many patent examiners get caught up with their quota over their vacation. To be sure the system is broken but it's not the the workers fault. Although you are incorrect about who will take the hit from fraudulent activities. It's the businesses that will take the hit. As any business that accepts credit cards will tell you fraudulent charges comes straight out of the businesses pocket not the banks.

The merchant is generally liable for credit card charge backs, even when the bank has authorized the transaction. After a merchant is stung by a fraud, the credit card processors often hike their rates, citing increased risk. The merchant also risks losing their accounts with the card companies if their fraud rate gets too high.
