Funny quote. pretty close too, but It's actually "725" to 1. The fact that I can still quote most of the lines from the original trilogy (numbers included) is a little disconcerting for an adult. Empire was my favorite movie as a child. oh well.
Touche'. That's a fair point about the site in my sig. It is mine. But it's really just an old placeholder.
Anyway what I was trying to say is that it's easy for people, me included, to say we don't like something. It's often difficult to describe what we don't like, or how to make it better. (Although I agree a touch of grammar couldn't hurt selflogic.com)
One of my ex-bosses suggestions to me was to "jazz up" a web site. That was the best description she could give me about what she wanted. I'm not a good designer or copy person. I'm a coder. I honestly didn't have a clue what she wanted. Oh well...
I haven't seen all of the new looks (slashdotted). But I personally like Jason's and believe it fits in with Taco's requests.
While you make a good point that he didn't *have* to say "I feel sorry for your city." It is usually easier to be nice in the beginning of a confrontation. The problem is that it can be very difficult especially when dealing with a first class ass-hat like this guy.
I suspect it's nicer than I would have been after being threatened "Please remove your software immediately before I report it to government officials!!" And after reading the rest of the emails it's pretty clear Mr Hughes went out of his way to help this guy.
The first paragraph. It's bolded.
>Up to 60% of the code in the new consumer version of Microsoft new Vista operating system is set to be rewritten as the Company "scrambles" to fix internal problems a Microsoft insider has confirmed to SHN.
Although I tend to agree with your sentiment.
Bottlenecks could occur for many reasons DOS attacks,/. effect, viruses to name a few. But it would be hard to tell for sure why google was slower than site x.
It'll be like the Dukes of Hazzard... In Space. Luke & Biggs Duke.
I can almost hear the song. Just the good old boys never meanin no harm... They steal Uncle Owen's land speeder and always get in trouble with the local dim witted imperials. Those crazy kids. Tuskan Raiders/Jawas/Hutts/Wamprats loads of fun for the whole family. How many times will the Blue Milk gag work? I started of in sarcastic mode now I'm looking forward to seeing it. oh well...
>which will expose attackers quite quickly, since they're likely to be physically nearby.
Good point. If I wanted to infect a system say at wallmart. I'd just place the infected RFID tag on a product on the shelf and wait for someone to buy it or inventory it. I'm long gone by the time the infection attempt takes place.
I'm not sure if you RTFA. Do you honestly believe that surfing Bill O'Riellys site is less likely to inhibit command and control packets than surfing the Al Franken Show website. I doubt that some GI would be able to hurt command and control data by surfing the web anyway. They are very likly entirely separate networks.
I have benefited from outsourcing and so have you.
The computers that I buy from Dell and Gateway are cheaper because of the Indian support guy I get when I have a problem.
I am able to stretch my dollar by being able to by cheap crap at wallmart made in china. There is no way American wages could produce the stuff that cheap. Competition helps every consumer (you and me).
What would you have us do close our borders and only do business with US companies who don't outsource.
PS None of this is news and not all Democrats who understand basic economic principals agree with you.
I believe FFE4 answered the question about suppressed findings in the original article. He said that the findings were independently produced as free of bias as possible but it was up to MS to publish or use internally as they see fit.
Good point. Several studies with a small enough sample size virtually guarantees some positive and some negative results. While MS may not be able to directly influence the sample size they can indirectly by giving only enough money for a small sample. Then just hand the bad ones to the dev/QA team and the good ones to the public.
Good Point. The companies don't and shouldn't alienate a portion of there customers for no real gain. If Wal-mart sponsored the exhibit would all the Pro evolution folks all of the sudden flock to Wal-mart in droves? However just imagine the downside. Church and community groups boycotting.
Evolution is a fact. However, it's not a corporations job to tell me I'm right or wrong about it. It's their job to make money for thier shareholders. To do anything else is disingenuous.
From what I remember about that episode. They were only testing "legal" ways to fool Police Radar. Their are several illegal methods for fooling/jamming certain types of police radar.

There are several tools you could install on your PC to test your speed to a certain site.

I had the same thought initially. Then I thought maybe the students thesis is on Wiki or multi editor anonymous information systems.
;)
I bet it's closer to a general frustration. "First you shut down this useful site now you shut down Wiki. What's next?"
The US isn't perfect but at least it's not China.
That's why you should always bring your kid with you to the bar. So they can blow in the breathalyser to start your car for you.
Actually I heard these type of devices require you blow in them at intervals not just to start the car.

Run away.. Run Away....

That is a good point too. I was just trying to give the benifit of the doubt to the research team.

Oh you kids now days. When I was in grade school the sun came up at 11AM and that's the way we liked it. Of course I grew up in Alaska...
