    One of Cranick's relatives later went to the fire station and punched the chief [nwtntoday.com] that ordered the firefighters not to put out the fire (even though they were on the scene). He's now been charged with assault, but I know a lot of people who want to contribute to the guy's legal defense fund.

    On a world-wide scale, Obama is moderate Right. The United States has no viable Left-wing party, if you use a global calibration of "Left" and "Right". Yes, relative to the GOP, the Democrats are to the "left" - much like how relative to the north pole, Greenland is to the south. That doesn't mean it's not one of the most northern landmasses.
    Well if we are going to play the bullshit calibration scale, then compared to Ghengis Khan, Pope Urban II, and Mao. G. W. Bush was a pretty laid back world leader who didn't really stir things up.

    As a thought experiment, imagine if your country was occupied by foreign troops, and you thought it was your duty to get rid of them by killing both the foreigners and also any "collaborators", with this latter word meaning anyone who was not in your resistance network. Then look up the maquis during WWII.

    Even if we're in no immediate danger of running out, we're still living on a planet with finite resources. It makes sense to concern ourselves with what happens when those resources run out

    Right at the end, the number I was looking for: Professor Richardson also believes that party balloons filled with helium are too cheap, and they should really cost about $100 to reflect the precious nature of the gas they contain. That will be the day all the party stores start selling their Helium reserves to NASA.
    Anybody else get the impression the good professor will start talking about precious bodily fluids next?

    Long gone are the days of the dog fights.
    Similar thoughts were expressed prior to Korea and Vietnam. If the US were to engage in a conflict with a large airforce, you might see the return of the dog fight. Or if two smaller nations were to engage in a conflict, dog fighting would return.

    If you can keep the users from installing their own stuff - software, tunes, their own hardware AND if you can keep them away from the internet, most company's fault rates would drop by at least 50%.

    Fourth secret, if you could just keep those filthy users from interacting with your systems at all everything would be fine, except no one would pay for a system to be a very expensive paper weight or inefficent resistance heater.

    No need to shout, dude. The antenna will be the cord of the headphones like it is on just about all existing phones w/ FM receivers. Btw govt. mandating this is dumb, but if they can coerce you to buy health insurance why not make cellphones be FM players.

    Try having the tiniest bit of foresight. If your car is likely to order you to stop, you might want to avoid such highways. I know, it might be inconvenient, but these are people that have been operating deadly machines while impaired. They can live with a mild inconvenience.

    While I applaud your gung ho attitude, you should be careful, since cell phone use and sleep deprivation also count as being impaired, your proposal would remove a significant portion of the driving populace from the roads. Thus you might wish to check the silicon content of your domicile prior to casting any stones.
