If you can't do any of the other suggestions (such as getting a new job or moving closer) then I have the following suggestion.
If you are on the phone or waiting for a system to boot, start marching or do knee bends. Wave your arms around. If you look at what you do all day you will find that there are many short times when you are waiting for something. Use these moments to exercise. My wife and I went to a medically sponsored weight loss class and one thing they emphasized is that you don't have to have long workout sessions, rather the total exercise time, even if it is done in small bites, is what matters.
Pay as you go... Oh, except for the stimulus($700B), and the budget ($400B), and oh yes, health care ($600B-$1.5T). But other than those we want a balanced budget.
------- ...the slickest way to lie is to tell the right amount of truth--then shut up.
I was getting very frustrated in my social life and finally just, more or less gave up. The next week I went to a electronics test training school in another state. I met my wife to be in that class. She talked, I listened -- for two days straight -- we laugh about it to this day. We have been married for 20 years and still going strong. They key is to just get out of your room/apartment and do stuff that you like to do. Initial meets can happen in real or virtual spaces but eventually you have to do the "meatspace" thing and really get to know each other. You can only get to know someone so much on Facebook or WOW but they can be great places to initially meet people. Get involved in other activities that you like--hiking clubs, astronomy or whatever. The key is that when you are doing group activities that you like you are also meeting people who at least partially share your interests. Also, and I hate to tell you this, but the right person can sometimes take a while in coming. In the meantime enjoy the activities and don't worry about it.
The response was unsatisfactory. I just sent the following to Kindle support...
I have been reading lately about the DRM confusion on Kindle and need a written clarification from Amazon on the limits imposed by DRM. Amazon has stated that there is no download limit per device but does not state what the device limit is. I was lead to believe that there is a 6 device limit for all books. Now it is being indicated that some books have lower limits yet we customers have no visibility to that limit. Therefore, until I can get some clarification on this I will no longer be buying any Amazon Kindle books.
I bought the original iPhone and could not inexpensively upgrade to the 3G last year. Imagine going 2 years on the EDGE network -- yawn. Now its my turn -- hooray!
On the contrary, the USA has one of the higher corporate tax rates. It is minimized in peoples' minds by quoting percent of GDP, but a corporation doesn't care about GDP it cares about the tax rate.
It depends on the signal strength in your area. I can go from days to hours depending on where I am with the phone. At home which is on the fringe I have to charge about every 12 hours. In town with full strength I can usually go 3-4 days as long as I am not playing games or talking excessively.
Let's generalize this a bit more. Those with job security are those that are in rare supply. People that bridge more than one discipline are much harder to find than a specialist in a standard discipline. For example, someone who knows software engineering AND manufacturing processes. Someone who knows chemistry AND process control techniques. Put a few more ANDs on these descriptions and you have the type of person that is hard to replace with someone overseas. I work in a large IT company that is getting seriously downsized and I can see who the survivors are and which jobs get outsourced. Those that can change roles quickly due to breadth of skills are those that are managing to stay on. If you sit in your cube and write raster imaging algorithms all day, you will probably eventually lose your job. Learn many things, lean towards things that are more marketable but don't do it in fear, do it to enrich yourself and in the process you will find yourself more employable and maybe doing things you never intended when you left school.
The MINI is one of the better cornering cars out there. I could care less what gas mileage my MINI Cooper/S gets. The thing is a super blast to drive. Don't lump it in with those 4-wheel pedal cars.
Its part of the divide and conquer strategy. Tax someone else, that's OK. Tax me, that's wrong. Taxes will keep going up as long as we only think its someone else getting stuck.
This is why well all need to work together and oppose taxes of any type unless there is a good justification for the use of the revenues.
Fine, if the states need more revenue and think they can achieve it with a tax increase--increase all the taxes by the same percentage. It seems counterproductive to try to tax another industry(gaming) out of existance when we are trying to save and increase jobs.
Except for one thing--- E-ink. This display technology sets these devices apart from any computer or netbook. The problem is that E-ink is a very poor choice for a general purpose computer--its refresh rate is way too slow. So, unless Apple wants to license E-ink and come up with a book reading device, I kind of doubt they are going to bracket Amazon. I have a very high quality display at home and I will take the Kindle any time for book reading.
The lower profit is a definite scenario without any change in customer price. However, at some point, it is deemed more profitable to invest the capital into something else entirely and get out of the business. This results in job losses and due to lower supply in the market, increased prices. All individuals including share holders (by the way about 50% of the shareholders are middle-class through 401K and pension funds) want to maximize their return. If I can invest in Exxon-Mobile I might get a 10% return. Now, the govt comes in and taxes half the profits. Suddenly I decide to invest in someone who can give me a better return than that 5%--such as a foreign corporation that has a lower tax rate and better returns.
I think its downright odd that 20-30 reporters all reach the same conclusions and often times the same wording when describing the White House event. Maybe part of the reason the news business is suffering(look at CNN and MSNBC as well) is that the idea of differentiation and value has been lost in this business. 30 years ago you could be sure to get differing viewpoints from the press corp and a constant challenge to the powers that be (Watergate, for example). In the current situation I think 3 or 4 reports is still too many. Just have the White House send out their press releases and all the newspapers can just publish them.
New York Times per issue price is going to be over $2.00 and $5-$6 on Sundays. If they can send you the e-issue for let's say $.50 and $2.00 respectively the $300 pays off in a year or less. I think the big reader, however, is going to be over $500. I own a Kindle, and its use for short article periodicals (such as a newpaper) leaves a lot to desire. The key advantage of a newspaper is that you can glance and decide what to read very quickly--this doesn't happen easily on an e-reader. For this reason, I think, that unless newspapers are very good at customizing the content to the reader, the mapping to an e-device will provide an unsatisfactory experience.
In this day and age of the internet why does the government have to do this level of regulation. We have tort laws that can easily put companies out of business and many groups that can act as watch dogs. In the food case, the government has displaced private groups. Try to spill some toxic waste. My guess is a private group will catch it before the government regulatory agency does.
The progressiveness of the tax rate has, yes, has decreased. But,the amount of the taxes paid by the top 5% earners has increased dramatically and the percent of people not paying any taxes is now approaching 50%. Looking at tax revenues collected, the system has become more progressive.
It is still a "rev 1" app. It is missing functionality relating to subscriptions. I cannot download my Analog and Ellery Queen subscriptions--too bad. The short stories would be excellent for the iPhone.
I have been using Stanza on the iPhone and I also have a Kindle. I agree that the iPhone is not a great reader but it is great for those random short (and sometimes not so short) waits and the doctor office, etc. I look at this app as sort of a satellite app for the Kindle.
Asimov and Analog are available on Kindle. I actually subscribe to both the dead tree and the Kindle version--my way of helping support these mags. My biggest problem with the genre was when someone decided that it was speculative which means fantasy and sci-fi fall into the same category.
Since when have newpapers been objective news as a rule? There are good and bad newpapers objectivity-wise and there are good and bad news sources (subset of them being bloggers).
Could it be that the current crop of newpapers have lost contact with their customers? The Wall Street Journal, Investers Business Daily and USA Today are all being profitable.

If we get stupid, do we have to give the money back?

UK: 21-28%
Spain: 25-30%
France: 33.3%
Germany: 29.8% (avg)
Italy: 31.4%
Canada: 29.5-35.5%
Australia: 30%
USA: 15-39% + 0-12% state -- 39.3 (avg)
Curiously it Barbados(40), Cameroon(38.5) and Guyana(35/45) were on the top of the list.

Of course, the soda might kill you.

I thought O2 was a pollutant. At least my plants always told me so.
