Running a business requires a completely different type of skill set. Its not a tech occupation and some individuals (including me) even if they would have those skills, would not enjoy doing that. Actually, I would hate the fuck of it, no matter how much money are we talking about. For me the path of the manager is a synonym with prostitution, almost at the same level as politics(which is a bit lower). No thanks.
Managing or running your business is not always the only progression of your career, don't let HR or society talk you into that crap. Being a techie can be way more fun and rewarding than managing people. Both from financial and moral point of views.

That is shortsighted. There are tons of situations where short passwords are not only OK, but they are a necessity. And strong password does not always equal more security.
The power to hire and fire as they damn well please
Scenarios were an open positions stays open for 6-12+ months are quite the norm is the last 5 companies I've worked for. No, they can't really hire and fire as they damn well please, its pretty hard to find a good guy.
The HR/performance appraisals "techniques", "metrics" and "S.M.A.R.T." commitments/goals are there only to shield you from the truth: that salary/benefits/promotions are a function of market demand/offer, influence and leverage. It has nothing to do with merits. NOTHING.
The sooner you realize that, the less you will suffer and the more you will gain:)

And remember passion is not necessarily a good thing.
Passion is not just a magical, wonderful feeling that rises out of nowhere and fills you with deep happiness.
Passion is a driving force trying to maintain a balance, to combat a dire need, a pain, something that is making you deeply unhappy.
If you are in a state of stability, you don't have or need passion. Different people value more or less amounts of stability versus random impulsive things in their life.
Have you considered that maybe you are happy and content, and that's why you have no passion?
Go to basics. Passion is driven by needs, by goals.
Nothing steers more passion than your own needs. Find stuff in your life that you can solve by coding. Solve one and feel like a million bucks. Then solve another one. Turn negatives into positives, literally.
Do fun stuff in your spare time. Bosses are supposed to be manipulative jerks, they are not your friends. Don't believe bullshit on TV - jobs are not supposed to be fun. Nobody is paying you to have fun. People pay you to do boring/annoying stuff. If you can find 1% of your work that is remotely interesting, hang on to it like crazy, it will make your work bearable. Change workplaces each 3-5 years. Yes you can do it, even in the current economy.

Taxes are not about fairness, but about what can and cannot be done. If the government can get away with taxing you for drinking water, they will do it.
Running a state is not cheap, and any government that will come clean and come up with ONE tax of 95%+ will get overthrown immediately, even if that's the truth, that amount is really required. People want to be lied, they want to pay 300+ different taxes so it sounds they are not paying that much.
E.G. Denmark will tax you 180% on a car saying that its for the environment, but the truth is they don't have an internal car industry (that would be hurt by such tax).
Politicians have their role in the society, but truth is not one of them. Searching for truth from politicians is wrong by definition. Why are people doing these wearethepeople crap? Why would we expect anything remotely useful out of this?
Its like going to a hooker for relationship, family and career advice.
There are 16 million users in the high score chart visible on iPhone. Are those including Android and other platforms? And of course there are those that never had Internet connectivity. Still, 500 millions sounds very far fetched.

Wikileaks is a travesty. A PR stunt. A joke. A play.
App store link enforced on Chrome, now pay to use map API, I guess the time for freebies its coming to an end and Goggle is making more and more clear that there is no such thing as a free beer.
Fluffy Kung-Fu Pandas coming from a 1st April joke are simply too much to ask the poor customers to stomach. They threw all the lore they got in Cataclysm, and ran out of ideas. The original intended demographic has made a dramatic shift toward a way younger audience, to put it nicely. Its basically hello kitty online.
Of course such a big beast as Wow has a huge momentum, but if Wow still has 5 million subscribers by the time Titan is out I'd be shocked. Whoever came up with the ideas of pandaren will cause such a big loss for Blizzard it should be fired.
- Hello, you've called Dell technical support in Manila, my name is Bala. How can I help you?
- What are you wearing?
Tell that to my wife, she still doesn't understand.

Making classified info public was always a big offense, in ANY country. Always. And of course was always manipulated. Boring.

The mobile social network Loopt or its competitors could conceivably predict with 90 percent accuracy where an individual will be tomorrow.
They invented that 90% number out of the blue skies, and then you make it 99%. You forgot to go through the 95% phase :)
... so I've put bloat in bloat, so you can wait while you wait.
there is only one metric: demand and offer.

I opt-out of the opt-out process.

How about suing the guys who approved this travesty? I mean sue him really madly. For billions of dollars. This is not a small mistake.
This is an opportunity. We need to set an example out of this.

The data is analyzed in real-time in a field of exabytes and we need a magnetron to bring it down. Psssht
