I think Gizmodo said it right in this article http://gizmodo.com/5424261/the-crunchpadjoojoo-lawsuit-has-been-filed-preorders-are-officially-a-gamble
"if Arrington's lawsuit has even a hint of truth to it regarding the lack of lack of Fusion Garage's sound capital resource—is no longer an option for the sane or even marginally patient. I mean, just wait til it ships and gets reviewed before giving these guys any money, ok?"
One, I wouldn't put 500 bucks down on a device that is a web browser, and looks like e-ink. I want something very fresh. I've never owned an apple product, but if the rumored tablet is real, and is off the charts, I'll buy it. Otherwise I'm going to wait a year to see what other products come to light.
no way, http://www.igniterealtime.org/.
Openfire is amazing and with thier Sparks client it gets even better.
Includes SSL, open API, different database backend, including LDAP. I've been running it for my office on a linux box connecting to a windows AD authentication. Best part about it is you can manage everyones contact lists. So no more invite this person add this person.
Openfire (formerly Wildfire) is a real time collaboration (RTC) server dual-licensed under the Open Source GPL and commercially. It uses the only widely adopted open protocol for instant messaging, XMPP (also called Jabber). Openfire is incredibly easy to setup and administer, but offers rock-solid security and performance
BTW i'm not affiliated with them, i just have used thier projects for years. Go opensource!
I also think Myst qualified as a puzzle game. Although it wasn't puzzles in the traditional sense, it still had clues and things to solve. I guess Myst could be compared to modern games where you have to complete quests and such. But in Myst you had to complete these tasks or you couldn't progress in the game. I do think that kind of game play is gone.
I live near lax, but my building has really old wiring and i can't get dsl at this location, but i'm a mile from the office and once on the roof i found i had line of sight.
I bought two wireless access points from ascendance, I bought the heavy ones cause i wanted to use the high performance radios so i can get 100mbit. (i work for an isp and i was able to just bring it right into my colo.
But if you get
http://www.ascendance.net/storefront/detail.aspx?ID=788
that should work two, you need two of them. Configuration isn't difficult, you set one as an AP and the other as a client, set your encryption and static/30 ip. and aim them at eachother. All done. On average with the standard radio you can get 20mbits up and down, and its solid enough to put voip calls over. The max range is just under 5 miles, that should cover you.
Hope that helps.
i set up a second webmail system on a linux box that uses password maping on ldap to my exchange server. pulls it up via imap.
when i'm done from vacation i change that shells password and all done.
but there are not many times i cannot get my email and other public ones on my pda phone. or laptop with a broadband card.
Its not speculated that it was Level3 its Cogent. Its all over Nanog.
New Update since i submited this yesterday
on
TimeWarner DNS Hijacking
·
· Score: 5, Informative
Since submitting this article yesterday there have been some new developments.
There was a large debate on Nanog about what has been happening and eventually was published to wired.
The full description of everything that has happened and how it happened can be found on my site at http://www.exstatica.net/hijacked/ as for irc.vel.net we have been returned our dns, but irc.mzima.net appears to still be hijacked.
Its almost the same situation with guy who got permission from a land owner to sit on the property and video tape police. The judge considered it unlawful seizer, and he won the case. Mainly because video taping is a legitimate way of gathering evidence. The full case is at http://www.paed.uscourts.gov/documents/opinions/05 D0847P.pdf
That case was federal, I have no idea about state laws but in theory it could be appealed and possibly get the federal court involved.
I've had this exact same problem. I work for an ISP that is a business ISP and we do not provide any ips via dhcp. We just don't follow thier "requirement" of having the reverse records contain the word static in it.
I've been in contact with them about 15 times and still have not gotten a response to get them removed. ips are still listed.
STOP USING BLACKLISTS, and if you must just tag it as spam and put it in the spam folder.
renewing your contract does just this, gives you a faster connection for a cheaper price. In Los Angeles you don't get told about the 14.95 for 3000/768 unless you pay attention and renew your contract with verizon.
I third that... I have a i-mate pda2k, but the new one just came out www.clubimate.com
I setup a windows vpn and connect from my ppc to my vpn and then ssh all around, works wonderfull and the keyboard is a great bonus.
The whole thing is you need to protect yourself in this job... because if things go down the drain then it looks bad at you.
Build a firewall, Smoothwall is a great solution and it's free and you can use some old boxes.... if you migrate will they know?
Continue to improve the spam filtering for the mail, DO the filtering your own way inbetween the internet and the exchange server.
Find ways to build an foundation below everything they have so it remains ultimatly protected.
Assess the damage of the rain. Show them that the building can burn down due to sparks and shorts because of water seaping in.
Other then that if you want to change other things like purchases... then build a game plan for power, and backups solutions. Lay it on a table. Show that if this isn't done there is a chance the school will loose a lot of valueble information.
When i was in that same situation i did things that was invisable to users but covered my ass and protected the security of the job and data.
I hope that helps:)
Andy
Use Memcached. Which is used by livejournal, slashdot, wikipedia, and sourceforge. I also use it. My database has no load. It's not to difficult to implement and there are tons of API's
This is sad.... I never said the kernel wasn't modular... i was just expressing feelings that most distros should have split kernel trunks for different platform.
if it can't be done at the distro level it should be done at the Development level.
Do you know how big the kernel is stock?
maybe there can be make --menuconfig --server

I miss The 7th Guest and the The 11th Hour
Awesome games, graphics were just amazing for their time, and the puzzles were not that easy.
