  1. Splitting it on New Linux Kernel Development Process · · Score: -1, Troll

How about splitting the kernel... Two branches one a server platform and the other a desktop platform... That way my server doesn't have audio or video4linux drivers in it... just raid, eth, and other important stuff... i bet it would reduce the size 10 fold... At least the development change is a good step in the right direction.

  3. geeze on Longhorn to Require Monitor-Based DRM · · Score: 1

Now i know why it's called longhorn... *imagines microsoft bending users over. this whole drm thing is getting out of hand. At first it seemed like a good idea. Now i have to have a newer DRM style monitor to be able to watch a video? What if i want to use tv out? Soon they will have a Emulated monitor kind of like daemon-tools that will just write the file to disk. Drm doesn't that stand for... Don't Respect Microsoft or maybe Do Remove Microsoft. i can come up with lots Dumb Ridiculous Microsoft

  5. Aftermarket on HP Invents A New Way To Print · · Score: 1

This now allows for aftermarket ink. Because alot of companies tried to duplicate the cartridge but HP had chiped it. Companies were afraid of being sued. Now of it's just a straight ink cartridge and no printer head then you won't have to mess with thos crappy refill kits and you can just get aftermarket ink for much cheaper.

  6. how about? on Weather Radar Case Mod · · Score: 1

What do you get when you take a laptop LCD, a Mini-ITX case and an old marine weather radar? A self contained wireless weather radar PC appliance!

You get slashdotted? But found it on the mirror above... interesting project. But i can't find any decent marine weather radar on ebay.

  8. early 90's? on Major Browsers Have JS Pop-Up Flaw · · Score: 1

Who still uses javascript popups for responses? That reminds me of the old sites that would pop up and say "please enter your name" and then the webpage would show your name... "Welcome fred durst" Now i just cancel those boxes... infact they should delete that function all together in javascript.

  9. Information on Why Don't Companies Release Specs? · · Score: 1

I think it just has something to do with protecting information. I think people find it easier to compare products when the specs are right out in front. It may not be the correct way, but if i saw two products natually i'm going to go with the one that has better specs. But what if the programing or something that is does specially on the board that changes the way it functions and it's actually faster. Most companies don't want to share their hard earned secrets.

Personally I think the smell of a common skunk is similar to the smell of high quality marijuana. Thusly, whenever I smell a skunk, I'm taken back in time to good ol' high school days. It's nice.

  11. There are many options on Searching for a Satellite Pager? · · Score: 5, Informative

Iridium who does satellite phones also does global pagers. The pagers are not too expensive about 150.00 dollars US, but the service is about 127 dollars a month for unlimited pages or you can get the basic plan that i think is around 56 dollars it gives you about 150 pages per month. If your stuff doesn't go down that much i'd get the basic plan. A place that I know that sells it is InfoSat YOur other option is have your cell phone text messaged. I usually never not have service. If I do it's not for very long, and when i get back into a populated area or get reception i get my messages right away. The point is, what if you get a page but you can't call anyone because you have no reception. That would fustrate me more.
