Short Answers: It seems Lucas doesn't care as long as you don't sell it for profit. They're going to release it for free on their website
Long Answers: Reading through their FAQ, they have this.
Question Is Lucas aware of your film and isn't he going to sue the hell out of you?
Answer: For most people who do not understand fan films we get this question often. To answer, I doubt if Lucas himself has seen "Revelations". However,Lucas is a large supporter for fan films, and is very kind enough to let other inspiring artists play in his backyard, as long as you don't try and make money from his hard work, and respectfully so. "Revelations" is a non-profit film and everyone who worked on the film was a volunteer (no one was paid) The film itself will be availible free to download from TheForce.net and the "Revelations" website to anyone who wishes to watch it.
God, I hope they're smart enough to use a torrent the next time around. It's a little dissapointing that the film will only be 40 minutes long, though. That's just over the average of an american hour-long tv show (sans commercials).
The first two thoughts that come to mind are Solar Energy and Nuclear Energy.
We've really made great strides in Nuclear Safety, it should be easily deployable if they build encompassing it.
However, Solar Energy seems like it would also be a good alternative. Because, you know... they're in space.
While my spelling might not be the best, I can certianly list several game developers off the top of my head.
Sid Meier (Civilization, Pirates) Peter Molyneux (Most recently Fable and Black and White. Those stunk but his others, whose names escape me at the moment, were better) Shigeru Miyamoto (Zelda, Mario) Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) Will Wright (The Sims) Richard Garriot (Lord British from Ultima!)
Now, the only person I can think of for music off hand is Nobuo Uematsu from the Final Fantasy games, but there are sure a lot of other catchy tunes that most people know (Mario Brothers Theme!)
Of course, most games aren't a single persons effort and are made by studios, which I can list off a lot more (don't know how many of them are still open, though)
Black Isle, Troikia, Bioware, iD, Valve, Maxis, Bungie, Crytec, inExile, the list goes on. Have you heard of the Game Developers Choice Awards? They just announced their nominees for their fifth awards.
What about gravity? Granted, I just had a quick glance over the article, but I don't see any mention of gravity.
Zero Gravity might be fun for several hours, a day, maybe. But I wouldn't want to spend a vacation completly without gravity. With the space-yacht ideas, it looks almost like a cruise in space. But that pesky no-gravity thing is really gonna come up and bite em.
But you can't fault Firefox if the person downloaded and executed a file on their own. It's not the same as visiting a bad website in IE and getting three viruses, four different forms of spyware, and a cold.
Huh, that's funny. A quick search on Google says that ISTbar is an Internet Explorer toolbar, homepage, and search engine hijacker and will pop up porn advirtisements.
I didn't see anything about Firefox, but, like I said, it was just a quick Google search. It doesn't make sense, why would someone deliver spyware that only effects IE through Firefox? Are you sure that you guys are the only one using your computer?
It is illegal to provide certain types of maps.
Say, for example, I can't sell a map to a party that will be selling free beer. (At least according to an episode of Drew Carey).
Is this legal? Are would it only be illegal if something like the Induce Act was passed?
It seems to me that someone out there is going to think this is illegal and prosecute.
Oh, and it's "generated."
Why would it take so long to build a replacement? Would the majority of the time be spent on programming? Could we not save a little time by sending it up there with minimal programing and, basically, the ability for us to upgrade it's firmware?
I just don't understand why the building should take THAT long.
Except that Richond, I believe, is still on the top 20 (or is it top 10?) murder list in the United States. I think we had something like 83 murders there last year.
We're improviing, but slowly.
What would be the consequence of the wheels of the Shuttle collapsing? Would it destroy the Shuttle/Occupants? Would it be possible for them to make a landing without the landing gear like a plane would?
Am I the only one who considers SEO unethical, almost to the sense of Nvidia or ATI making drivers that would cheat on benchmark programs?
If your page is what someone wants, good, if it isn't, you can pay Google and they'll advirtise it on the side of the page along with all the other junk.
I don't think it's going to start a flamewar, but it was my understanding that NASA technoligies basically laid the groundwork for modern computers.
Is that good enough?
With all the taboo associated with the Shuttle Program, do you really thing that Nasa/Congress could send another shuttle+team up there with the sole purpose of retrieving the Hubble? I agree that something that has contributed as much as the Hubble has should be preserved, but I just don't see that Congress/Nasa coming up with a way to do this in time and with our current program.
Maybe we could get Virgin Galactic to do it for us, instead?
Wasn't the Mozilla All-In-One browser supposed to be disbanded and effort placed into Firefox a while back? Are they going to continue delaying and delaying this? I tried to read the article, but it didn't seem to say.
I'm curious as to how many people still use Mozilla, anyway.
Are there any legal centers for Open projects that aren't software? Has anyone even taken on a project such as an openbook or openmusic? I believe Lessig has released a book under a CC licence, but are there any others?
No, 100% too many.
But I don't think that was the point of the article.

Oh, I only wish Microsoft would get into the condom buisness. Then at least I would have a good excuse for all the crashes.

Not all people in the Witness Protection Program are criminals.
Law.umkc.edu Reading that seems show the it's only legal/illegal depending on the mood that the Supreme Court is in that day.
