Not only that, but he left out the second 'e'. "Enthushtaotibelastic" means excited and interested, "enthushtaotiblastic" is a form of shark sushi. Honestly, people, this is first year stuff in Kiiwohl School. Grammar matters on Mars - if he'd said that to the local Gringkel, he'd be a steaming plate of enthushtaotiblastic now.

Actually the context (Deut. 19:15-21) is in reference to false testimony given during a trial. If a witness was found to have deliberately given false testimony, then he was to be punished in the same way the defendant would have been if he had been convicted on the false testimony. Deuteronomy 19:18-21 - "18 And the judges shall make careful inquiry, and indeed, if the witness is a false witness, who has testified falsely against his brother, 19 then you shall do to him as he thought to have done to his brother; so you shall put away the evil from among you. 20 And those who remain shall hear and fear, and hereafter they shall not again commit such evil among you. 21 Your eye shall not pity: life shall be for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot." NKJV Oh that we had such for the RIAA, eh?

  3. discipline !abuse on Thai Gaming Sites Ordered Shut Down After Suicide · · Score: 1

There is a massive difference between beatings given in anger and simple physical discipline. My siblings and I got our fair share of spankings back when we were children, not because our parents were angry with us, but because they wanted to teach us not to do stuff like running out in the street as toddlers or playing with Dad's power tools in the garage.

Our parents were pretty good about keeping the dangerous stuff locked up, on high shelves, out of the way of little hands, but the world is full of potentially dangerous things and kids get very creative when it comes to injuring themselves. They don't yet have the understanding necessary to think things through to probably conclusions before they do them and have a great belief in their invincibility. Consequently, kids do some dumb, dangerous stuff. I know we sure did.

At the time, we learned "If I do this, I'll get a spanking" so we didn't do it because we didn't want to get spanked. Nobody waled on us with a belt or a 2x4, I don't ever remember getting a bruise, but it stung enough to make me want to avoid it. When we got older, we started realizing "If I'd gotten hit by a car while playing in the street, I'd probably be dead." D'oh! Our parents never punished us in anger, and while we might be mad at the time (I was just fine building a miniature gasoline-powered grill in my room to toast marshmallows! I knew what I was doing!) we knew our parents didn't want us to do things that would hurt us.

Ordinary, healthy discipline, whether physical (spanking, grounding) or limiting (no TV for a week, no dessert) should never be associated with abuse, which is given in anger and intended to hurt/humiliate the victim only to please the abuser.

I have a similar job. I scan 8x10 film images (yes, we have a camera that shoots 8x10 sheet film) taken of the old master paintings in our collection, digitizing the pictures for various types of reproduction. I will often spend over an hour in the scanning, and anywhere from half-a-day to multiple days tweaking the color and removing dust spots and artifacts introduced in the photo and scanning processes.

I'm all for putting thumbnails or low-rez versions out for the public, but the final high-quality, corrected digital image cost a lot of man-hours to produce and since we put in the work, I think we should be allowed to copyright it. (Not forever, of course - in time another image will be made in another digital medium and this one will be discarded.) We do, after all, own the paintings.
