    If you read the Wiki article, the vans referenced were used to detect over-the-air analog TVs. No details on any such digital ttv detection.

    They were hosting full episodes. If the guy had taken them down, the forum could have gone on, but people mostly went there for the episodes, so that would have killed the site.

    Also, 25000 users is "huge"?

    They asked for more money... ..and the show "went back to its roots." Nothing to see here, move along

    The show was (has?) "jumped the shark" and they had to do something to revive the franchise. Getting rid of the Pretty Inturns is a great idea to breath life back into a show that should have been canciled several years ago.

    That's because we've figure out how to monetize it. The "for profit prison', means it is a persons patriotic duty to be incarcerated, to help drive the economy.

    Or perhaps we Americans are much more prone to violent and illegal activities (gun crimes, theft, fraud, and so on...) that are likly to get you incarcerated? Americans as a whole are much less inclined than many European societies to actuall participate in scoiety with a goal of "getting along". We are an "I've Got Mine, Fuck You" sort of people.

    A series of self-portraits taken by Indonesian monkeys has sparked a copyright dispute between Wikipedia and a British wildlife photographer, says Wikipedia is using his copyrighted images without permission. Photographer David Slater complained that Wikipedia rejected his requests for the images to be removed from the website. Although the monkeys pressed the button, Slater set up the self-portraits by framing them and setting the camera on a tripod. The Wikimedia Foundation claims that no one owns the copyright to the images, because under U.S. law, 'copyright cannot vest in non-human authors', the monkeys in this case.

    I dropped Comcrap for OTA and DSL and I save $150/mo.

    Sure, Comcast sucks... But what kind of Comcast plan were you on that you could have switched to DSL (or whatever) and reduce your bill by $150 and still have "high speed" Intertubes? I mean, what are you paying now? What was your Comcast bill? $250? Really?

    France, US, Columbia, and Panama. Jungle diseases of workers was a huge problem at beginning.

    The Panama Canal was built in the early 1900's. The issues you speak of can be adequately addressed with modern knowledge. The main issue will still be engineering.

    It might be nice to see a different mind-set break the Western hold on shipping transit.
