    And it isn't even a democracy, so how exactly does a user of a computer on a Chinese subnet equate to the Chinese government? Furthermore, the US Air Force has public advertisements for hacking positions on national tv, it's not as if the USA's government is above hacking.

    Are software repos easy to setup with Xandros? I know they are with the Fedora family. I would guess so for the Debian family.

    I would hope that you care about any and everything that goes on as part of your country's legislature. It is your country after all. We're not talking about a congressman's personal life or something, but what they do as part of their job (supposedly) representing the people.

    Aside from vendor lock-in, Outlook isn't some genius application. I (would like to) believe that it can be done as well or better without aiming to duplicate it.

    I'm guessing it's a matter of opinion, of which you are of course entitled to. I recently started using Eclipse with PyDev, and I have to say that I am loving it.

    What's the point of an SUV to drive through the city? That's like buying a sports car to drive a few blocks in a crowded city. The machine (SUV) was built for the purpose of being a sports utility vehicle. If you need large passenger seating, there are minivans. If you need to haul load, there are trucks. If your commuting, there are sedans and compacts.

    Well that's not true. You can install an RPM without an internet connection. Yum is what couldn't install without an internet connection, and even then you could use the the -C option. Both your complaints are against yum. Speed and an internet dep does not really make it miles behind.
