    In case you haven't already known, ATI cards are well known for their shitty Linux support. I have a friend who uses a GFX5200 over an X800 over this alone.

    From my experience Ad-Aware misses some stuff that Spybot will catch. Better to use both, to avoid problems.

    My current hard drive is a 40 gig. an 80 gig drive to back it up onto is cheap. Of course, I wouldn't actually use an 80 gig drive like this, but, if you changed "your current hard drive" to "an average consumer-grade hard drive" your theory holds.

    IANAWH (Wine Hacker), but AFAIK, Wine just translates the DirectX calls into OpenGL, and does the same with all the other APIs.

    And yes, emulator is in the name. Specifically:
    Wine is NOT an emulator

    Do you have 4k stacks turned on? They have to be turned off, otherwise the system goes down when you try to go from X to console.

    It's in kernel hacking, IIRC.

    It's not the first time it's happened to him - a couple of weeks ago, he did something similar, but left the admin accounts intact. He did however create a new account and gave it admin privs.

    His username is "carrija". The username list had:
    • ...
    • carrija [user]
    • carrija2 [admin]
    • ...
    Yep. He used his own account name.

    You want to know how I found out? I was sitting with someone who said he had 0wn3d the nework, and deleted the admin accounts. I told him that since he deleted the admin accounts, they're all going apeshit, they've re-imaged the server, and they'll know who you are by now. He said that that was bullshit, and he'd covered his tracks perfectly. At that exact moment, I heard the door open, and I heard the the IT guy say "Can I please speak to Jake?".

    He tried to bullshit his way out of it, saying someone had read his password over his shoulder. Then I heard the admin say "You mean the 20 character random alphanumeric password?".

    It took a lot of work not to burst out laughing then and there ;)

    I agree.....even the teenage ones don't understand....even though they would have the same level of hormones as me I would have thought.

    They don't understand why we have a problem with being hit in the balls, too.

    To sum it all up: we don't understand them, and they don't understand us. They are ahead though, because they always know what we are aiming to do ;)
