From stories I have heard, dry loop can be a pain as the tech guys that install it, sometimes disconnect your other line.. and then I have heard the reverse where a tech was working on a land line in the house and disconnected their dry loop.. I don't know why.. just the stories I've heard.

It depends where your spreadsheets come from doesn't it ? .. Open Office is 100 percent compatible with Open Office.. I have been thinking on the instances where I had to deal with spreadsheets that were not generated by our own company.. I only can think of one (Kind of).. We had vendors who would supply us with updated pricing.. Some had their own price lists that were usually not in spreadsheet form. Others (usually smaller Vendors) We created a list of products for them in spreadsheet form and they would have to fill in the current pricing... So if I look at it from our point of view, we forced them to use Excel, but we could have just as easily forced them to use Open Office.. On the flip side if we were a vendor and someone requested documents in Open Office, well then the customer is king and you can be sure we would do it.

If customers would start requesting documents in Open Office, it would go a long way towards making it a true alternative, as companies who want sales will comply. Once installed, then they can even project "value added" customer service by asking people if they would like an Office document or an Open Office document. If you equate this with the PC world and internet access,, When it started to take off, it was damn expensive.. then connecting by modem became cheaper and DSL was expensive.. now it's not that bad.. However as more phones come out that will compete with the iPhone for bandwith, I think you'll find things getting a little closer in price for the same access, but I think it depends on how they handle the initial price of these phones compared to what they cost them... And remember you are also talking about Apple here,, not exactly known for low profit margins on hardware are they ?

I am waiting to see what comes out as far as an Android phone.. The Hero is rumored to be coming, as well as the Lancaster..
