Just keep in mind that crap sometimes spreads.. There was a time when you could smoke on the Greyhound bus.. that is until you entered the state of Utah.. look where we are at today.
And yet.. if you were trying to find out where 60 some odd billion dollars that some guy stole from peoples retirement accounts has gone to.. the high road just doesn't sound all that righteous..
The question isn't whether or not the restaurant supports both vehicles.. it's whether or not the newer built vehicles are built to the spec established (by the DOT ?.. try getting freon).. Eventually the newer built vehicles will replace the older ones.. and there will come a time when everyone can build their restaurants to that spec,. then the driver will have to either watch where he drives (big rigs have to do it), or get a compliant car.
If you build your restaurant supporting the taller vehicles and the major company decided that 7' was good so 8' must be better does everyone rebuild their restaurants ?, or do they say what the hecks wrong with you big company ?
My guess is that you don't watch Fringe.. or probably only watched the first few episodes. It actually has gotten better as time has gone by.. It is as much Sci-Fi as any of the shows you list above, and probably better Sci-Fi than the X-Files, as I hjaven't seen any ghosts, goblins or magic yet.
I won't dispute what your trying to say.. The GUI is easier, but that doesn't mean that the command line should be abandoned.. Just as in Windows when the GUI fails, you can still accomplish things using it. (perhaps related to fixing what's broken ?).. There are also people who run servers with no GUI at all.. With most commands in both Windows and Linux, you can ask for help.. although granted many times the help is too much information (I hate it when it scrolls beyond the visible screen). Most of the helps have samples of usage.
Way "back in the day".. there was a time, when you bought software such as an OS, and there was actually such a thing as a manual. What you can do now, if your so inclined, is to buy a manual, or search the web on the commands that you will use and print them for reference in case you find yourself stuck without a GUI someday.
I think it's more of a perception than a reality.. All the things you list are for the most part easily overcome. Photoshop is indeed a stickler for some people, but whose fault is it that there isn't a native Linux version ?
The problem is determining an optimal number of box sizes that will handle the greatest number of your products. The work station where the item is packed has a limited space for box options. In some cases, larger boxes can be cut down for a better fit to a smaller object.. In your SD card example, I am sure that the card itself had some protective packaging so an envelope would probably have been a better choice.. Here it comes down to decision making. Perhaps there could be some software that will make these decisions, but just hiring smarter people would be a better choice. The thing is, in cases like Amazon they are not doing that great a job of doing that.
There's another variable as well.. what theater.. of which there is no standard design.
And even if they somehow manage to determine who was sitting in that seat, in that theater, at that time, on that date.. Id imagine any lawyer worth a damn would get someone off by forcing a plaintiff to prove things like that the projector was calibrated, and the method used for calibrating.
safer option for sharing documents is software on our own server, but that won't be bugfree, either.
I think I am having trouble with figuring out what you are trying to do.. I am guessing that you have documents that you want some people to be able to see but not modify, but also have this group of others that you want to be able to allow to modify the documents ?.. you have your own domain.. http://www.deondernemers.nl/ which I imagine runs 24/7 but you would prefer to do this sharing thing through google ? ?
My suggestion is this.. convert to OpenOffice docs, put the docs on your web server, make all those with editing power carry a copy of oO, and give them access through FTP.. make it standard procedure to convert your docs to pdf's for access by the "non" editing group that you want to be allowed to see.. More work I know, but more control if you implement it properly.
mind you, most music stores won't mind if it was a famous artist
Would they mind if he opened the cash register and took out some money ?.. Inventory is money.. The store had to pay for that copy of the CD, I imagine most stores very much would mind.. regardless who it is.
Well, you forgot a step.. Find out how what this is doing that translates into money.. you can't find out where the money is going until you know that.. There are a few possibilities.. but the one that makes sense to me, is to collect data on individual investors to sell to brokers.. For example a list of investors who trade x amount of dollars with E-trade might be something that Merrill Lynch would be interested in buying... Of course we all know that all these brokers are way too ethical to buy such information.
I was going to say something similar, as I have also never had a problem.. Not to say it's not possible though, especially with the items that don't actually come from Amazon themselves.. used books come to mind.
needed an all new motor on his brand new $15k Toyota car b/c the fuel pump got backed up & blew due to some other faulty design.
This doesn't make sense.. and would result in new motors every time a car ran out of gas,.. now, an "oil" pump, that's another story.. but a blown engine would only happen if the idiot lights were ignored. (or not working)
For the fuel pump.. let me do a computer analogy for a car problem... It would be like having to replace the motherboard if your power supply died.
Considering recent events.. A lack of credit history may make it harder in the future to finance real estate. The thing is, although banks are the norm, banks are not the only way to purchase real estate. In fact, with banks being tighter, and a glut of foreclosed properties and buyers harder to find.. buying direct from a seller is probably not a bad way to go right now. Ideally a seller who has no pre-existing mortgage on the property he is selling.
How was what he said wrong ?.. He basically said it makes you think more when paying cash as opposed to lumping a purchase in with a credit card bill... he said people (the general public) are into the credit score thing.. You tell us that this one guy is not. This Dave Ramsey guy may be the smartest financial genius ever.. who knows, but that doesn't make what the poster said about people and their credit scores wrong.
I'm a T-Mobile guy too.. and a few months back, I took off driving big rig (for 3 months).. Now I didn't go farther east than Denver or Cheyenne.. but I never ran into a situation where my phone didn't have service when I needed it to.. There were places in "no mans land" where there was no bars, but I am certain that in these places there were no bars for Verizon or others as well... So my personal experience is that west of the Rockies.. they're awesome.
I think it's more like, once you've willingly shown evidence that can be used against you, you can't then say that you refuse to give a copy of the evidence.
I think this is now going to come down to a choice for him.. Living with the consequences for obstruction of justice by refusing to cooperate further, or giving them what they want and living with those consequences... I am willing to bet he goes with the obstruction. (unless there really isn't anything bad on the drive)
I have to wonder if this really just has to do with his ability to be rehired at the company at some future date.. rather than being "bad terms", which would imply some kind of wrongdoing.. The "recommended for rehire" status should not be a given.. and there is nothing wrong with using that as leverage to the companies advantage. It's not exactly blackmail as much as an extra incentive to work on making the transition smoother for the company.. and not really that much of an incentive because to use this "insurance" the company would have to be hiring, and that would still be no guarantee that when they were hiring, that they would not hire someone else that had something they liked better... So you would have to seriously weigh the value of this "status" based upon the amount of times you have seen former employees return.
It's about the responsibility given to you when you were hired to do the job.. It would be the same thing if you had keys to the building, company credit cards and cell phone.. If you quit, you would give them all back.. If fired you would be asked for them.. If you quit with the keys to the building, never to return, there would be a cost involved in changing the locks.. If you used your keys to enter the building after quitting there would be criminal charges involved..
Being fired is not fun.. but relinquishing the responsibility you had is part of being professional.. and giving up that responsibility does not ONLY mean your absence as an employee. Whoever was to take over the responsibilities he had should have been given the passwords, the minute he was told that he would not be working there anymore, just as if he were giving up his key to the building... It's kind of like making a clean break with a girlfreind.. make sure she has ALL her stuff, so you don't have to deal with it anymore.
Is the history of browsers and how Microsoft killed the ones before it.. not by making a better one (actually they did at the beginning), but by first of all Including it with the OS, and secondly tightly integrating it into the OS.. When IE was started, it was a separate but free download.. if they had kept it that way, much trouble would have been avoided.
Your calculator and notepad examples are relevant.. IF Microsoft had not been suppling these apps since the 3.0 days and there where people selling them as separate apps, you can bet your ass they would be pissed when all of a sudden MS included them in the OS for free. What do you think would happen if the next version of Windows suddenly included a photo editor that was on par or better than Photoshop ?
Maybe it's safer for you to just stay at home bubble boy.
Just keep in mind that crap sometimes spreads.. There was a time when you could smoke on the Greyhound bus.. that is until you entered the state of Utah.. look where we are at today.

He can just take it down the road to Oral Roberts University.. I am sure they are more open to this kind of thing.

Where do you read that this money will go overseas ? .. wouldn't fly IMHO, with the new showing where the money goes web site thingy.
