Population density.
Not so much Sweeden, but certainly South Korea and Japan the population density in the cities is much greater - so it's a lot more cost-effective to roll out high-speed broadband in those areas, and there is less of a problem with factors such as distance.
Also, all of those countries have had some form of government funding/grants (correct me if I'm wrong), especially South Korea which has had a huge amount of money spent on infrastructure. The main lesson we can learn from South Korea is that "if you provide it (highspeed broadband), the customers will come" (not least because of the lure of 'adult' sites;))
It's interesting that the ASA slapped Microsoft on the wrists for running the comparison on both different HARDWARE and software. They should have also enquired into this "independent research" - Microsoft has a history of funding "independant researchers" itself, which coincidentally always come out in favour for Microsoft.
Microsoft have enough money, time and resources to patent pretty much anything in the future, and it looks like they're going to try and file as many patents as they possibly can.
This will be very damaging for the entire rest of the software industry including open-source - I mean you're going to have to think harder and harder to come up with a new software idea that Microsoft hasn't already thought of and patented... Patents were introduced to level the playing field for the little guy with a big idea, helping him to compete with the giant corporations - what Microsoft is doing is exactly the opposite. The entire patent system needs to be overhauled before its too late.
This isn't the first time a huge company has made an embarassing translation error.
There is that old classic when Ford introduced the Pinto in Brazil. After watching sales go nowhere, the company learned that "Pinto" is Brazilian slang for "small penis." Ford pried the nameplates off all of the cars and substituted them with "Corcel" which means horse.
I wouldn't be surprised if this company is also responsible for running shock sites such as goat.cx - they produce severe retinal scarring, perfect for business!
I disagree. Many chronic pain sufferers on Morphine will tell you that Morphine aren't really painkillers - they can still feel the pain. The drug just shifts your consciousness away from the pain, you just don't care about it any more.
As far as potency is concerned, Morphine is tens/hundreds of times less potent than your brain's real painkiller - endorphin - this would seem to back up the above theory...
Also mentioned was that CS:S should be free for anyone who purchases HL2. This is a change from previous rumours that it would be a seperate (ie. you pay for it) game.
What a great idea, lets ignore posts from now on however interesting they may be and moderate people based entirely on the contents of their signatures. Could produce some 'interesting' results...

It's already been tried - see link above. Some enterprising guy ran a China Everquest sweatshop where the employees played Everquest all day, and whatever they collected was sold for profit.
..NetCraft hasn't confirmed it yet.
...because you can see more than 1 colour (black).

It truly warms my heart to think that instead of sending out his crap, he will be spending his days picking up bars of soap from the prison showers :)
It's a good thing that Opera make web browsers rather than web servers then ;)

Brings a whole new meaning to the term DDoS, if your box gets hacked you can expect an army of angry teenage pizza delivery people at your door ;)
