I've heard the joke, but thought the engineer poured sand around the fire and let it burn itself out. Doesnt effect the point of the joke, but it does work better:-P.
It may be finland, nokia's headquarters, you're thinking of. I heard about this awhile back, so you may rest assured you didnt imagine it. I cant remember for certain if it was finland or not, but I believe it was.
ah, true. However, the DNS would most likely have responded with an address and then failed had what you suggested be the case. Still, you are right whois is better and far more worthy of being posted on/.. I doff my tinfoil hat to you sir!:-P
it will be harder for other countries to resist if they want unencumbered travel for their citizens.
this raises interesting questions about those counties that are members of the british commonwealth. Would this mean that in order for those countries to maintain the ease of movement they have now with other members of the commonwealth they would have to submit to U.S. rules on the IDs?
I was going to mention this, but you beat me to it. The latest in the series (Defiance) isnt the greatest game in the world, but the plot and the voice acting make it incredible enjoyable regardless - more like an interactive movie than anything else.
you know it's based on a short story by an irish author right?
The author is Maurice Walsh (I believe he worked on the film as well) and I have the short story he wrote in a collection sitting next to me as I type this. For a little more info on it, a quik google turns up this excerpt talking briefly about Walsh.
since I believe the short story is in public domain it shouldnt be hard to turn up. It's an interesting read that reflects alot about Walsh's attitudes and remembrances of his homeland.
You can also google for the plethora of biographical info I'm too lazy to link to here.
late last night (~4AM EST), when I logged on, worked fine. I'm guessing they were getting flooded (channel still was) and decided to shut out newcomers for a while to manage the traffic.
b)when you checked they were doing maintenence on their server (which they have been doing recently as they move over to new boxes and are busy tweaking 'em).
I think the DVD sales, which were incredible, speaks for itself here. The reason why the show wasnt popular was:
A) it wasnt advertised as much as most other shows on fox
B)it was shown out of order when it was on because:
C) it was pre-empted a lot by fox for sports games
its the all new, proven slashclick system. Increase clicks to a given story by multiplying all numbers by 5. Will make you longer and stronger (at least virtually). Also will help grow back hair on your head. cowboyneal will soon be selling this incredible new self-help book for the all time low price of $15.99.
::chuckles:: I remember using 2k and being happy at weeks uptime.
now I use debian and get months (and would be longer but for a couple power outages and the need to move from my dorm room to home and back again twice a year).
AFAIK sarge was supposed 4.0, but a mistake was made in the numbering scheme and 3.1 was used instead...
heh, and made my own typo, meant "your".
I figured it was "vague and generalized" re:you're sig :-P

ISOhunt seems to be working fine here...
I would guess:

did you see the same trailer I did? it looks amazing!
"Wash:this is going to get pretty interesting...
Mal:define interesting...
Wash: oh god, oh god, we're all going to die?"
oh, and DAMN is Jewel Staite cute.
qtcomponents worked quite well for me up to itunes 4.7, now I have 400 ogg files I can't play anymore, annoying as all hell.

don't be afraid of commitment... :-P
what, to edit the sectors on your HD manually or such? bah! I just use a small magnet!
it works for me interestingly enough, samba 3.0.1 on debian testing and osx tiger. I should prolly go read the article to see what the the prob is.
