Yes, and in the flavors of linux where it actually *does* update your dependencies, you will likely break something else that had a dependency, and it becomes a manual labor clusterfuck that the average user will *never* be able to figure out.

I do have to say though, linux has made great progress. Still too many chefs (each has their own kitchen) and no one has the recipe book.
Here's a serious question. Do these groups hire usability specialists? This isn't flame bait I'm just curious as to why it's so hard to make linux truly usable on the desktop by an amateur.
And mods, my original post is not flamebait... but the truth. It's one of the reasons to use OSS. If it has security holes, you're free to find them yourself.

As for the metal detectors comment, I can't say I'm either for or against them, but I'm betting theres a lot of dead high school kids who are for them. I'm not sure where you're from, but there are few places in this world with less security than the U.S. You don't really gather that until you travel to a place like indonesia.
And as for "go preach somewhere else", you should try not getting upset over things. I understand you're offended, but you don't have to talk like an asshole to get your point across, k?
