    What about if that stuff was given to you? It really depends if the people actively attempted to get money out of it, or if they made a withdrawl and it gave them more than they asked. The latter is not theft. I would, however, return it.

    I read your comment out of context, and it scared the shit out of me. :)

    If observation is a form of evidence collection, and they only act when they have evidence of a crime, then by now seeing a lot more "evidence", there will be a lot more to act on. Turning otherwise normal people into criminals.

    Stereotypes would not be stereotypes if they were not true. Sure, there are exceptions to the rule, but a stereotype only takes form after multiple people make the same observations and correlations.

    So if someone steals your SSN and fraudulently obtains a credit card, it's the institution's fault? Who's the victim? You are.

    If the bank made an error on a transaction, would you say they lost their money? Hell no... you would say they lost your money. How is this any different?
