As a rep for the store, they can trespass you... Tell you that you need to leave the property and that if you come back you will be arrested for trespassing... (they do it all the time in Vegas)
Lame. If I don't want ads to the point that I go install adblock, why would I want to undo that? If the site has a loyal group that wants to view ads, they already have the means to whitelist. Also, a website can put a plea 'please show our ads even though we know you will not clickthrough' on a site now. If adblock ends up pestering me - it's fork time, and the first cool mod would be autoblocking of sites with 'no really, do you want to see some ads?' tagging to support this stupidity...
I use the software just syncing bookmarks (with encrypted checked). It works great - but it doesn't work with Firefox 3 beta yet.:( I may try Weave as a workaround.

It's really a bad quality product change if it is allowed. People that want to make/buy a chocolate substitute, can do that/now/ without calling it chocolate; They can market a chocolate flavored snack without calling it chocolate... People who really want the good stuff, shouldn't end up with 'chocolate flavored' items...
Config on the gear I work on (google fastest hpc storage): "lun add" and follow the options picking the size. Config 300+ TB at the same time - same about of work. Kick a user off? Can auto fence at the switch if you want to use one, or on the gear I work on "zoning edit" or "user edit". Forget some commands "help" spits 'em out. Or can always use the GUI. With the above, the storage shows up as nice SCSI disks - quite easy to work with.
www.datadirectnet.com Has been shipping 48 bay enclosures for a while now. SAF2248Put 5, 10, 15, or 20 behind a big RAID head (S2A9500 with 20 back end (disk) links, and 8 FC4 (Fibre Channel 4 - rated at 400 MB/sec) links on the front and it's a fairly big fast system. Lot of national labs going that route. You can snag manuals here if you want more details manuals

I had/have that same board CPU combo. Only reason it isn't used anymore is that I got a newer MSI board (nforce4) when I when to a 3000 (XP64 bit running 1800 native).
I say Logo;) Think of the cool pictures (or goto staements:) ) I did Logo, old school BASIC, years later I did a little C, then Z80 asm, then C/C++, then steped back into Modula (blah vs C). If I were starting today I'd probably go with Python as a first...
If you are just having 'fun' with this - great. Otherwise, you can either get by with what can be done easy with SATA/SCSI and a cheep box, or you are into the low end raid section with things like Apple's box. Need over 180TB going over 1.5/3GB per second on a single system? Try something from here http://www.datadirectnet.com/.
Yup - super lame ad. Not quite sure which source ya need to pick in adblock plus to keep it from poping either.:( Hint to sites: I don't block non PITA text ads - Sometimes, I even click them...
In this case, it doesn't make a good slashdot story. This isn't distro news. Should slashdotters submit every story that pops up on distrowatch? bah!
What is the best way for new IS managers to convince their superiors of the need for widespread change?
If things have been working fine (from their view) there is no reason to change. Change caries risk, and status quo has been working a-ok. After that many years static, there is little chance they are able to learn new tricks. A new person coming in might have a shot, but you don't. Work on your resume and start interviewing now. When you get a new gig, give your old place 2-4 weeks notice (depending on how nice they have been to you). DO NOT TAKE A COUNTER OFFER from your old company - that may be nice short term, but it almost never ends well.
Are you in the real world? Most fast food places do not take a signature or check id. Ever use pay at the pump for gas with a credit card? No id check, no signature. Merchant services via a bank are about the worst deal for businesses, so you knowing something about that has zero to do with gas, fast food, etc... Not the same as retail sale of property vs consumables.
I was hoping you would go this route:) You are totally incorrect.
First lets compare apples to apples, you omitted some steps in CC that you have in Cash. And whats with your "take bills", like you don't have to "take CC" CC= Swipe card, wait for machine to authorize payment (the longest part of the process), take the person's ID, note their ID number, have them sign the receipt, store the receipt in the correct slot. Let us not forget that many stores (smaller stores, but still many) swipe the card through a manual machine so they have to fill out the form and get information, plus make a phone call.
You have no idea what you are talking about... 1. At the fast food places, many/most have the customer swipe, so the person at the register does _not_ take the card. 2. They don't check ID, or note and ID number, they also don't sign the receipt. Go to an airport in a reasonable sized city and get fastfood - then come back and post.
Store doesn't hold paper receipt either - they use the electronic transaction log. I'd be happy to send you a public releations contact at a fast food firm so you can talk with them if you are too busy to see how it works for yourself.:)
As for faster then cash. I am pretty sure giving $1 is faster then running a credit card. Yea, as a person who worked in banking for almost five years I can pretty much expertly tell you that it is.
Well, you can say that, but you would be wrong. Creditcard = swipe card and hand over receipt. Cash = take bills, put them in right spots, count out change, and hand it over along with receipt.
Sure, if there is no change it is _close_ but CC is still faster at the places that are geared for it.
As to the volume - that and the lower overhead are what paypal is all about. $2 isn't a micropayment..
Yet somehow Jack-in-the-box, McD, and lots of food places at airports etc. manage to take credit card payments for a order of soda or meal - they are _not_ loosing money on it... I don't even need to open an account with them first, give them my address or even sign anything. - It's faster than cash too.
Where did you get the DS9097U-09 adapters for $5 each? Looks like they are about $12 qty 1000, and $28 qty 1-25 w/ a 8 week wait, or $34-$52 via re-sellers qty 1-10. It sounds like a great project, but if I can get the adapters for $5-$10 vs $30, I'll hop on it vs waiting.:)
Thanks

>> but you might see less tire in contact with the road, so the stopping distance might go up some.
What the fuck are you talking about? Stopping distance has nothing to do with contact patch size. It cancels out of the equations.
Get educated before you spout your bullshit.
Bzzzzt - incorrect. Traction and friction. It has quite a bit to do with stopping distance.
Back to parent post - High tire presure also affects ride quality (stiffness) and handling (due to lateral stiffness).

Travel lighter. Few people wish they lugged more weight...
Select Tools->Benchmark, and run with one that is fastest on your system. :) - For protection from citizens, any of them will do fine for many years.

To be honest, this might have been worth something if the drive was anything other than a Maxtor.
Regardless of brand, it is worth the cost of a used drive, minus the time/expense of pulling the drive off of the contraption.
