    rsync -e ssh -azu --bwlimit=500 --stats --exclude='/proc' --exclude='/dev' / targetsystem:/targetdir/

    -e is how to go - so -e ssh means use ssh
    -a (archive mode - see docs)
    -z compression - if you have more CPU vs pipe, use it. but if you are on a lan, you probably want to leave it off unless you don't mind the cpu hog (fat pipes will use more cpu time for compression)
    -u update only (dont overwrite newer files)
    --stats show you what it did when it is done
    --exclude leave off paths/files you want to skip
    --bwlimit in KBps - from my exp, put half of what you want your max to be.

    Add a link to firebird in your start-up folder, with "-turbo". It will then rest in your toolbar. When you go to launce firebird for real, the window will come up much quicker.

    No, firebird will package with minotaur to provide e-mail.

    I would always watch it, and enjoyed it very much. A couple seasons ago they started allowing/requiring too much cheating, etc. (eg: Things that were out of line with what I see as the spirit of the show). Watching became annoying - seeing the "wrong" team win, etc. I stopped watching. - blah.

    Note, with bitorrent (and via easy gui) on BitTorrent++, you can set your max u/l rate. Set it to 30-40kb/sec and you shouldn't hurt anyone too bad.

    I d/led it last week using bitorent++ (d/l off sourceforge). Worked great, and md5sum matched.

    See this story for bitorent news. I used bitorent++ for the added GUI.

    Note: no big thing over 8.0 for most users IMHO.

    You're on slashdot - so How about installing Linux? It will run faster. :) I'd vote for Redhat or Debian - though I hear good things about Gentoo too.

    For Windows - add memory, defrag often, make sure HD write cache is turned on.

    For Linux - make sure hdparm has good settings for your drive (eg: DMA, 32bit, etc)

    For Both: Make sure Acoustic Management is turned off (for faster drive seeks). Turn off services you don't need. (don't burn memory or CPU time)

    Yeah, I'll probably go with TaxAct next year. (Did TaxCut this year). I tried the TaxAct demo, and found my mail server bourced some of their e-mail due to them having an open relay. d'oh!

    _you_ should be fined for having been the tool used. :) Secure your servers - systems, and inbound/outbound firewalling.

    In CA, if someone commits a crime with a gun that you didn't store with lock and key, you can do jail time for it.

    Or if you need to server, NFS Maestro Server. No, it isn't free. But if you have to buy one - take a look at NFS Maestro By Hummingbird.
    These are the same people that make Exceed. - Though instead of Exceed, I bought Xmanager by NetSarang (lot less $ and did SSH tunnel, etc)

    ++This one's got a real P3 1.0 or 1.2GHz processor with PC133 sdram memory... probably a *lot* more powerful than the VIA.

    It is way over twice as much money, and it is not twice as fast. It also has no extra PCI slots.

    Something like a VIA EPIA EM 6000, for way way less $. (eg: under half the cost). And you would have a system that is Mini-ITX Form Factor, Micro ATX Chassis Compliant. - Not a custom hard to fix type system.
