    I agree with you there. While I feel the threat of terrosism, regardless to what people may think, is still real, this is getting ridiculous. Every little threat that comes out now has to be linked to terrorism because 1)government has to cover their ass for their first blunder 2)they and the press seems like they want us to be afraid to gain more control over us. While we have to realize, yes the threat is still real, we shouldn't jump either at every little thing "oo yes Britney Spears is late showing up to the grammies. We have word Al Queda agents may be involved in the hijacking of Ms. Spears.. OO no wait here she is now..my bad" --Dan Rather

    I've been waiting for this day! Mel Brooks is a comedic genius and space balls absolutely rocked.

    I still joke around with a guy at work about the luggage combo. "Yes i need an invoice" 'Ok the number is 1..2...3...4...5."

    And how can we forget good ol pizz the hut!

    And..and..and...this is the best part, while it may/may not be better than the first space balls, I'm confident in Brooks' ability to now screw it up like the debacle known as episode 1!!!

    Yea, in companies goal for world domination they tend to piss on the people who got them there on the way. I can understand why you would to offer price breaks to new customers even though ms intent may be evil but what about your loyal customers? The people who have to pay top dollar for your bug ridden product and do so year in and year out.

    And if ms plans fail and they waste all this time/money in Russia for little gain, whose gonna have to pay for the mistake..yup that right the poor loyal customer.....

    I know its an ideal that'll never happen, but i just wich companies stop worrying about "ooo i only made 2.1 billion this year instead of my projected 2.2 billion" and focus on reworking your key products to keep the consumer happy!

    I'm not familiar with all of their laws so I dunno. I don't think you should chop of a guys hand for stealing, he should be made to repay the value of what he stole back most likely by working it off...

    Then again chopping a guys nuts off one time around is prolly too extreme..mm not sure what a good starting punishment would be but if he's a repeat offender, then yea that would be a suitable punishment for sure.

    Of course by then the "execs" will just add so much bloat that you still won't get anymore then one movie on such disk. And not to mention who knows how much disk space videos in the future takes with all the advancements and what not...

    Point taking but its not like people can't find the presiden't whereabouts anyways. We all know where he lives. We all know he was in nyc for the republic national convention and what time he would be there. You think a mob rush in a city of 7 million people would be enough to save the president?

    And look at lincoln, jfk and ronald reagon and that was way back in the day before cell phones. The threat has and always will be there but that is the risk you run wanting to be a leader of a high power nation...

    Just on a tangent, I think we need to fix our poor justice laws first to be able to PUNISH criminals SWIFTLY and let the punishment stick. If you murder a couple of people, you get the chair no questions ask no appeals, deal with it. If you a sex felon, you get your nuts chopped off. And i still strongly feel you should be convicted for murder if you drink and drive and kill someone....

    My views of law enforcement may be harsh to some people, but the point is preventing can only go so far, people will commit crimes no manner how much you try to prevent and giving those felons a "slap in the wrist" so they can walk about to commit more crimes, like now, will just further detoriate the situation....

    NO :). At my job though we have a couple of solaris machines(We need at least one of everything because of the software we develop) and the majority of our workstations are linux based.

    For me, the only advantage that I see with solaris is that they have good driver support as they should since their hardware is limited as compare to a pc.

    In a grand scheme of things, its a trivial factor to consider.

    The thing linux needs now is better/easier driver support. And it should also try to make those drivers stick if you manually compile a kernel/driver.

    I've updated my kernel recently through YAST online update, I forgot I manually compiled my video driver(ATI Radeon) so when the machine restarted my X was done. Now i have to reinstall the driver all over again.

    I know YAST would take care of this for you if you download their nvida driver but does anybody know how you can recompile a kernel and make your driver that you add stick without reinstalling if there is a way?

    For the home processor yea, as for the itanium i don't think so. If intel were not getting killed in the itanium vs. opteron market, then they wouldnt abandon it. Yes it's all about the margins and if the margins sell, you don't abandon a product, only when its no good then you start to abandon ship....

    The sad thing is I got stuck with an itanium as my work machine. No we didnt' pay for it, they gave it to us so we can compile our software on their crappy chips. So now I'm stuck with red hat 7.1 for the rest of my days here :(

    I agree with what your saying but I feel ms is a unique exception. All the other products don't comprise of the majority of the desktop systems all over the world and the other products dont bring all the virus/spyware crap to the table as windows does.

    I guess what i'm saying there product should be secured to prevent a majority of these threats before they move on. It's only right and fair but then again those 2 words to mean anything to anybody anymore.

    yes/no/maybeso. while the the post was misleading, i can see ms being evil too(surprise surprise). i mean the article didnt say it but i wouldnt put it past them to do it. "well the 2000 version isnt as good as xp and we cant do nothing about it until you ugraded to xp"

    I should receive a raise this year for my 2 year anniversary. Even with the raise it'll put me well below the starting average salary, as I pointed out in another post. I will admit my company is a unique one though. There's two of us Sys admins who handle EVERYTHING for a small company focused on engineering....

    last time i used it, spybot and adaware wouldn't pick up on spyware unless you manually scan it where as this will tell you if you have spyware. and also the stablility(had experience problems with spybot before)/automiatic tracking cookie removal was enough for me to warrant out some money but to each his own

    yea what ever happen to those good ol days of getting your buddies together for a game of poker and wiping the floor with them...

    if you have to resort to online poker for kicks, its time to seek help because this to me sounds like a gambling problem.

    i dont cae about the house losing, bringing down the house is good but its equally wrong to gamble away your families money/future, mortage, car and what not......

    It kinda is in a way all money related. I mean how many of these people who obtain the free software/movies early actually pay for them the day they come out? And why would someone not share files on their computer? Is it because of anonymity or maybe they dont have enough hard drive space and don't want to buy more?

    It may not be the main motivation of alot of these people. I dont know, in that department you would know more than me but money is still involved if even on a underlying level.
