all it takes is a badly configured update that accidentally forgets not to send DHT to the utorrent central hash server on torrents with private flag enabled, and the MPAA has IPs for all private and public tracker users - oh wait, that already happened:)
You do realise that utorrent is owned by BitTorrent Inc. who are backed by the MPAA/RIAA these days ? Basically the MPAA pay their wages,so who knows what backdoors are present - all it takes is a badly configured update that accidentally forgets not to send DHT to the utorrent central hash server, and the MPAA has IPs for all private and public tracker users - oh wait, that already happened:)
IIRC Ludde used to be the sole programmer for utorrent before the sellout happened, and is name sounds kind of Russian, so you could say that you've been out-memed. In Soviet BitTorrent, the MPAA unhires your programmer.
(yeah I know Ludde was a swede, but thats pretty close... )
I'd like to see a heap overflow generated by a webpage, please. I know its happened before - way back when IE couldn't parse (or something like that) for instance, but google is (for the most part) totally an online company. The only interaction that most people have with them is via web pages. Surely this would make web page vulnerabilities far more important to them.
Are these different to the people who left when Yahoo! bought Flickr? Or did those people leave, come back again, and are now set to cause a big ya-hoopla yet again!
How do you pay your credit card off if you have no money in a bank account? I can only pay off my credit card using a bank account (no, they won't accept cash). You could be using your paycheck I suppose, but what if you use your credit card for a substantial purchase - something more than your monthly pay? I'm not disagreeing with you, just curious.
I couldn't agree more. Our company builds Exchange servers (single and clusters) for clients ranging from small business to large corporations, and after initial install we rarely have any post installation administration requests. We build our servers, install them, and they happily run for years.
Perhaps the emails they have sent to report problems / issues are not getting through...:P
Wow. Seldom these days do I learn handy new things about the Intertubes, but a having never once right clicked on a search field I have to thank you immensely for that. Thank you very much! Its simple and it has the potential to be awesome.
A "media officer" and a blogger are hardly "Silicon Valley's top talent". Information Weekly sounds very bloggish to me (without having RTFA), and most bloggers worst crime is thinking that blogging is in some way important in the overall scheme of things. Not to say blogging is bad - some blogs are very relevant and full of useful information or insightful content - but teh vast majority are parasitic gnomes trying to rub shoulders with the few giants that do exist.
SCSI is still faster, and last time I checked, it was very very difficult to make a 200+ drive RAID tower out of SATA drives. (It's been a few years...)
Indeed it has. Babel was demolished long ago... I never could figure out where they found enough PSUs for that damned tower either. Maybe they used biblical Pillars of Salt?
... nor are we tracking your travels across the intertubes with our sensual adtubes code! I mean we ARE tracking you... wait! Sergey? Which are we doing today?
Fatter pipes are bigger targets to would-be evildoers, as it gives them more bandwidth with which to carry out their nefarious deeds. That makes a rooted.edu box almost as important a component of Dr. Evil In Trainings' arsenal as a hollowed out volcano island.
Um. Suddenly and unexpectedly at the last minute, with everyone left wondering what really happened, and secretly wondering if there will be an unannounced comeback at some non-fixed point in the future?
An entrenched monopoly on x86 Operating Systems where the likes of Dell must bend over and sign their souls away and the industry leading Office Suite?

How about this menu: http://news.softpedia.com/images/extra/LINUX/large/gimp25preview-large_009.jpg ? Doesn't seem very sane to me.

"what accident?"
I'm still waiting for that closing parenthesis ...
Um. Suddenly and unexpectedly at the last minute, with everyone left wondering what really happened, and secretly wondering if there will be an unannounced comeback at some non-fixed point in the future?
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Another proponent of mind control eh? You;re right though, thinking hard enough at other people should make them do my bidding.
Ported Excel rounding errors also have they?
Gary Larson is turning in his grave ...
