1. Your wife (not implying that you paid for her, that's simply a large investment in time and money)
2. Your house (excellent investment)
3. Your car
4. Your computers
Why do so many people make this mistake? The only items on this list that are even remotely close to an investment is the wife. An investment is something that you put money into and get more money out of. Everything else is a liability.
In general, you don't make money out of your house, you don't get a return from your car. You could make money with your computer, but it is a tool, the real investment is your time and energy. You also have to spend more money maintaining things like cars and houses and computers (depending how up to date you need them to be).
Your wife is the only thing that could be considered an investment, you spend time and effort on her, she spends time and effort on you (and if she has a good job, you get money back too).
So remember, an investment is something that MAKES money, not COSTS money.

You can't make a multi-million dollar movie aimed only at fans of a game.
You can when the game is Final Fantasy. This game has a MASSIVE following in asia, they go nuts over it. I imagine this film could have only been screened in asia and easily turned a profit.

Um, actually if you read the articles, Miguel is saying that they are only implementing the infrastructure and the execution evironmnet as well as the class libraries. They are not planning to create any online services at this time, they'll leave that up to others.
What it should do though, is to allow Linux users to actually access the services MS are going to implement, which will be weird to say the least.
Still, if this works out as planned, at least UK Linux users will be able to lodge tax returns online.:-)

The day (in 1653) that Oliver Cromwell cleared the "Rump" (the then corrupt parliment that was essentially still loyal to the defeated monarchy) and replaced it with the "Parliament of Puritan saints" (which proved equally innept). Although it was finnaly a failed overthrough of the monarchy (the monarchy was returned to power in about 1660, two years after his death).
Anyone got a Brittish independance day suggestion?

Mandrake (which I haven't used since 7.1) is looking to be a really good distro--supports DrakFont, has a nifty installer, and Cooker is using.deb instead of EvilRPM.
What the hell are you talking about mr troll... Cooker uses RPM, just like the rest of the distro. And urpmi is getting to be quite similar to apt-get, the only difference being that debian still has a better system of servers and package archives.

This is not a Free(tm) software product but it does allow for use of Outlook clients and for it's own Linux based clients, and there is also a spin off Open Source Client hosted on source forge, so the company is not anti-Open Source.
The product in question is "Insite Server/Client". It offers compatibility with both Outlook and Exchange, and runs on *NIX based systems (I think). Anyway, I don't know if it is exactly what your after, but it looks close.
(Also, their tech support seems quite comprehensive from a casual examination.)

It doesn't matter if the platform is windows, linux, mainframe, unix, or the doorlock on the bathroom. If it isn't tested before going into production, you are going to find trouble.
I can personally attest to this fact. I got into ALOT of trouble when I forgot to test the doorlock on the bathroom before going into production....
;-)

they should call them Gold Pieces, or GP for short. They could then supplament them with other metals for smaller denominations, like Silver Pieces (SP) and Copper Pieces (CP).
Then I can start looking around the internet for Armour and Swords and maybe a lantern and a sack, and head off to the Sword Coast to find adventure and loot.

On the other hand, maybe preventing the distribution of MP3s and DivXs could have a benificial side effect. More bandwidth available for downloading open source operating systems (I know I had a heap of trouble getting Mandrake 8.0 when it came out and I blame all the napster clones myself...)

I've had offers at least 75% higher than what i'm making now, but I do enjoy being able to walk into fry's in my development team sweatshirt and have people in the games aisle ask me about it.
Wouldn't it be to your financial advantage to take the higher paying job and get a screen printer to make a development team sweatshirt for you? Even if it didn't look quite right (or not at all right) most people wouldn't know...

Umm, why do you think we are trying to export him. We don't want him here either and if we can ship him off to the US all the better.

This is the general news forum and discussion board for Mandrake, it contains (or will contain, the format just changed) all the announcements and discussions for ALL the Mandrake sites. There are links on the left to the sites you want:
This is meant to have all the knowledge base articles for Mandrake. It seems to be down at the moment, but it does have a section on networking from what I remember.
This is the free Linux training site, and it provides instructions on setting up Mandrake for both desktop and server stuff. This does have a section on NFS setup and the like. If neither of these sites fix your specific problem there is:
This is a combination knowledge base/expert question-answer site. You can post problems and other questions and find an expert to answer them.
If all else fails there are two Mandrake mailing lists available (newbie and expert) and you can try to post your problem as an article to MandrakeForum too.

What if the individual bills had a unique number imprinted with this method, like a public key. Then the copier would only be able to duplicate the original code and could be picked up when multiple codes appeared too many times (kinda like Ultima Online).

This seems a timely point to ask a question regarding the GPL.
If I buy a GPLed app, and then get the source code as per the GPL, am I permitted to redistribute the BINARIES or only the source?
If only the source, does that mean that if I wanted to distribute binaries of the software, would I need to recompile and repackage the software myself?
To activate it the software connects to a Microsoft server and verifies your key hasn't been used by 20 other pirates.
So what happens to a legitimate owner when 20 odd pirates steal his activation code? If the MS servers are registering multiple users and shut down that code, what happens to the legitimate user?
To be in options, it should be, well an option that you can select or unselect. It's not (unless that changed in Outlook 2000). There should really be an item in the view menu called "Internet Headers" that then pops it up. That would make more sense.
I was thinking "SW2: Shadows of War", but that's good too.
