When I tell people I'm going to school for IT, and I'm taking a UNIX Administration course, they reply: "Eunichs Administration? What the hell is that?"
Generally, yes. However, I think that the functionality of Opera is advanced enough that it makes it okay. Besides, most of the time, I have both Mozilla, Opera installed at the same time.
I remember back in the day when my family got a brand new computer with this strange device called a Pentium...And it had Windows 95 installed! This was huge, considering our previous computer had a version of Windows from the mid-80's...Anyway, excuse the rant, it's what I think of when I hear "Pentium 1"
Modern Electronica, House, Techno, etc actually came from Detroit, Michigan, USA.
I would disagree. Although modern "techno"(in the specific definition of it) comes from detroit, most people would argue that house music was born in Chicago & New York as a bastard child of disco. Most orgins of different types of electronic music, in my opinion, can be attached to different locations in the U.S. and parts of europe.
Well, knowing a bit about the subject at hand, I'll bet as many innovations in electronic music have happened in the last 15 years as have happened from 1870 to 1990.
...Back in the day. We had this guy who worked there, crazy about starbucks. He invited Winter to our store(after we opened), and told him that there would be a big party for him when he came. About a year later, when the crazy guy(Jacob) had been separated from the company, Winter came to the store, and said, "Where's the balloons? Jacob said there'd be balloons." So he checked out our place, did his thing...
Lately, starbucks released a statement saying that they're flattered by this, but other than that, they don't give him much...
Ahhh....a Slashdot link to a 7.3 MB PDF document. This should be a wild ride on the Denial of Service express.
Good riddance...I never liked PDF's anyway. Although I like the idea of a digital magazine, why not just have a website updated monthly, rather than a giant, memory-hungry, cpu-eating, pdf file? To reiterate; I hate PDFs. I HATE 'em.
Having said that, I do think that some companies need to quit treating their employees like potential criminals. But if you work for a company like mine, where the data is the company's life-blood I can completely understand
I agree, but I also can't help but think that all companies' data is their life-blood. While scrutiny does suck, especially from an employer, I think it's a neccecary evil. It's more important to protect a few million(billion) dollars than to protect your privacy. If you think something may cause a problem at work, don't bother bringing it.
clients have been unable to get email to one another reliably. Attachments disappear or become garbled, mail disappears into the great beyond, or arrives hours after it has been sent, even within the same ISP.
I concur. These problems seem foreign to me. I've never seen them, or experienced anything even like it. I rely on it daily in work and in my personal life, and I can't imagine not using it.
I can't believe that the data transfers over several billion miles in less than 2 hrs. I was wondering how long it might take, I was thinking more like a couple days.
No I meant more of the fact that there is a large anti-microsoft feeling in the up and coming IT talent, and this perhaps is a great threat to Microsoft.
Look, don't ban me for life from Slashdot for saying it; I mean, I like Linux as much as the next guy. But I think "up and coming" IT talent(A category I would put myself in) needs to understand and support both Linux and MS, because MS will remain to be a major market shareholder for a long time. But I'm sure Linux will grow into the mainstream, too(although it sort of already has).
I wonder, does Microsoft have a problem getting good employees? I would think that most developers worth their salt would work anywhere rather than for M$.
I would disagree. Just because a company has legal troubles,(What company doesn't) it doesn't mean they're a bad company to work for. In fact, I hear from people who have worked for MS that it's one of the better places to work, with good pay and superior benefits packages. Granted, MS should be punished appropriately for what they've done, but I don't think it makes them 100% Evil.
Good thing, too, the damn TV won't pick up the Dale Jr. race. And all this time I thought my trailer wasn't Wi-fi compatible. Guess I'll just get in my '85 Trans-Am and go git one 'o dem!
(No offence to rednecks or Trans Am drivers, I drive a Camaro, however I am not a redneck)
I'd say you just won a bible and an encyclopedia...
Congratulations.
Imagine... a beowulf... of all this blackholes and all this information... Wheee.... ;)
I think where you were going with that was.....
Imagine a beowolf cluster of Stephen Hawkings.
I think it would be wild. Just think, with all those electric chairs and talkboxes and whatnot.
Wow. If He answers your question, could you tell me what His /. id is? I have some questions for Him too...if you get His email addy, that'd work too.
At first read, I couldn't tell if you were talking about Jesus or Stephen Hawking. But I'll bet they both have accounts here.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson said "if you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door."
Are you telling me that this is the beginning of a new millenium of mice-catching?
Imagine...Robo-Tom!
Here's another funny thing that reminds me of:

In my book gets 4.5 stars. But the java/javascript errors that come up constantly are a bitch and a half.
Unix To Beef Up Longhorn
I can't believe I didn't see it at first!
BR Get it? Beef? Longhorn? Eh? Oh, forget it.
Windows from the mid-80's
You must be from an alternate universe.
That, sir, is why you are an AC.
linky linky

A free meal from a British restaurant would probably be enought to turn me into a rampaging Ghengis Khan!
I don't know, but you'd need to be a barbarian to eat in a british restauraunt.:)
Ahem....
Game Boy Advance....$100
Ports of really old games for a system you haven't played for 10 years....$25 ea.
Knowing Nintendo will never see another dime from this kid with an emulator....priceless.
I like to hold on to my cache for as long as i can, but I do like to eat out, and dates can be expensive.

Look, there has to be some way to teach old people how to use the Internet. Maybe watching Auto-Bridge may be the answer.
Really though, I'll bet this will be a big hit at the retirement homes. It'll replace Movie Night.

If I had points, I'd unload them on you.
By the way, you forgot to add that there's nothing "fun" about Maroon 5.
