Except I believe that the memory on the iPhone is composed of ball grid array chips. So then it becomes an issue of using a reflow gun or oven. Then, once you have removed those, you need to reball the chips or have a bga prototyping socket and then attach it a compatible controller chip. Then unless you have done this to all of the chips to dump their contents so you have a complete filesystem, or all you have is useless bits. So, while not impossible, it is not a 30 second procedure like hooking up a hard drive.
I hope the outcome is the same. Apple has been getting out of hand in the past three years with some of their policies. I wouldn't mind one bit if someone dropped a charge down their thermal exhaust port.
Setting multipliers on the motherboard wasn't too bad. If you forgot to set the split core voltage jumper on a socket 7 board when you had a pentium with mmx, now that was a problem.
I don't miss those days much. My life has been much better since I haven't had to worry about IRQ conflicts, setting I/O ports, or fscking with emm386.
Well, studying meteorites that are here on earth is still a way of discovering elements potentially not from this earth. While you mull that over, I suggest some self reflection.

Because Windows 7 only completely supports GPT partitions if the motherboard has a UEFI firmware, and IIRC support for GPT is only on the x64 version.

It might have to do with the fact that optical discs the pits and lands don't exactly correspond to binary 1's and 0's.
CDs use EFM Encoding to store their data, DVD's use EFMPlus and BD's use 17PP.
Having a faster switching laser may allow for the run lengths to be different. But that's just my best guess.

All of its storage is flash memory soldered to the logic board. There is no way to remove the storage.
