Back in the 80's my parents bought me the game for my 8086 5mhz 512k CGA computer. It was a neat game. The mechanics of it were very much like scumm. The music was catchy (written by DEVO) even on PC speaker. It wasn't until years later that I read the book. After reading it, I definitely wanted an updated version of the game.
Damn straight. I bought Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis the other day on Steam just hoping that if enough people bought, we might get it at least re- released.
who keep tagging stories like these and especially 'Ask Slashdot' submissions with the domyjobforme tag, please STFU. Quite often, the submitter has done extensive research on the matter and shared his or her observations and is looking for people to share their ideas or experiences. Your attitude does not fit in with the open source spirit that the readers of Slashdot enjoy being a part of. If done as a joke, it is no longer funny.
Indeed the TFA mentioned nothing. I had the same thought as you, specifically regarding blue OLED. They have the shortest lifespan. I would figure though, if they are 75% more efficient, that mean far less energy being pumped through the device and therefore (though possibly incorrect) less strain on the organic structure and slower breakdown.
Sorry about the late reply.
I ordered this laptop specifically because it has virtualization enabled.
I kept the Vista Home Premium partition (will get replaced with Win7 x64 when it goes retail).
I wiped the secondary partition and installed Ubuntu 9.04. I installed KVM in Jaunty and I've installed Win7 RC1 under KVM. It runs pretty fast. Sound doesn't work yet and the resolution can't be set to the 1280x800 native yet, but I'm sure the open source community will have those figured out soon.
If the laptop I'm posting from is any indication, MSI has it right. I bought this GX620 three weeks ago. It's quiet and cool even after running video games.
Uncle to a 2 year old actually. I love the show. I was kind of upset when I couldn't find any shirts or plush toys at Disney World when I went last month.
That's a perfectly reasonable question. As I mentioned before, the game was announced over two years ago. At the time of the announcement, they had in game video of the game that must have been at least (and I mean the very least) 9 months of development. That seems like a lot of R&D wasted if they don't plan on releasing the game.
The FAQs on their site mention all kinds of reasons for delay, like balancing races and game mechanics. In my opinion, they shouldn't have announced the game until these details were worked out. Those are not minor details, they ARE the game.
Game studios seem to be falling into the same trap as movie studios these days. Special effects and cutting edge graphics have become more important than the story/gameplay.
I think Blizzard puts itself at more of a risk by not releasing SCII by disenfranchising those of us who have waited a long time for a sequel.
Less focus on this crap, MORE focus on Star Craft II. The fscking game has was announce over two years ago. I'm still pissed off about the cancellation of Ghost. There is enough revenue coming in on WoW now. Please don't forget about your customers who don't give a damn about WoW.
Thank you.
I claim no superiority. I do however find it disheartening that people on a site catering to GEEKS need to be spoon fed a tech article. When I read something I don't understand, I look into it further. I don't wait for someone else to explain it to me.
<quote>Translation for people like me: Smart dudes at the #1 school and a lab with lots of funding and laserbeams found a way to fire said laserbeams by shaping the mirror instead of having a flat mirror and firing it through a shaping lense. This is good 'cuz now they will be able to do stuff they had a hard time doing before.</quote>
How exactly did this clarify the artice? The part about focusing with an etched mirror is clear in the in the fscking summmary. What stuff will they be able to do now that they couldn't before? The "translation" doesn't say. What are the applications of the technology? The "translation" doesn't say.
My reply to the post was to point out that people need to do a little more reading/thinking for themselves. Had you done some, you would have seen the reply for what it was and not a claim of superiority on my part. Go back to digg or fark or wherever hence you came, troll.
I hate to burst your bubble, but my ASUS P4PE has DSDT errors that prevent resuming from suspend or sleep. I still recommend ASUS to others and my next board will be ASUS, but they're not above having ACPI problems.
Go ahead and laugh it up. But I bet you Joss could do it, and well enough do shut you up for joking about it. The reason the man has so many fanboys, is that he can throw reality right out the door, but still tie the script into the audiences emotions.
That's not accurate. OSX does not use the TPM chip for hardware authentication. The reason OSX does not run without modification is that it requires EFI firmware instead of BIOS. Pystar uses an open source EFI emulator to boot.
That is friggin' mean, but it also made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe.
Phone numbers to these BBS's or it never happened.

Ubuntu 9.04 x64 with the 2.6.28-14-generic kernel also reports mmap_min_addr is 65536.

They don't have enough money to bribe me to listen to Van Halen.
Consider a man a wife. The husband is infertile for reasons other than motility. They could now have a child with sperm produced from his stem cells.

I don't know what's more sad.
1. Someone dumbing down a tech article for the slashdot crowd to read.
2. Said post getting modded up as informative.
Welcome to the new slashdot. Striving to be more like FOX news every day.

Sorry. You can never tell when someone was being sarcastic and omitted the tag.

I wish he was on an express elevator to hell, going down.
