  2. I had this issue with a G4 laptop on A Design Defect Is Plaguing Many iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Units (iphonehacks.com) · · Score: 2

I had a dead 12" white g4 powerbook. This happened to the cpu. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I took out the mother board, wrapped all of it bu the cpu with aluminum foil. I put a tea light on the chip (it was about the same size) I fired it up figuring it would be a prayer to the computer gods, or part of a wake ceremony. Once everything cooled off the laptop worked, still does. I wonder if a little heated press could be made to heat up and re-seat the chip without letting it slide at all. Sounds like an aftermarket tool business if anyone wants to make it.

  4. Trademarks on Is a Domain Name an Automatic Trademark? · · Score: 5, Informative

First of all, have you looked up his trademark at uspto.gov to make sure he has one. The USPTO is really leary to give a trademark on something that ends in .com now-a-days.

It would also be interesting to see what catagory he filed under.
You can file a trademark in any one of several categories (about 23). So you too could have a trademark on the same word and it would not conflict (eg. Ford Florists and the Ford Motor Company both have a trademark on Ford, but since the name use would not cause market confusion, they are both ok).

If the category is bogus (some technology one might be ok for him to use) you might be able to get the USPTO to force him to prove the use of his trademark in commerce.

Also if you were using the trademark before he filed, you should be ok by law, but anecdotal evidence shows that you will still lose your domain.

On a related point trademarks can be filed in more than one country, so what country trumps what country if there is a conflict? (I guess since .com is supposed to be a US thing it would be subject to US law first.

I have seen no discussion on this.

I am not a lawyer do not take this as legal advice. It's not. It's the ramblings of someone who holds a few trademarks himself.

Everyone in FreakShow 100 from NYC learned their stuff from a guy name Art. Art got into computers from his Ham hobby. Ahhh, I see you've never tried to solder into one of these plastic controls. I have. This is not really a practical solution. It's not like it has a real circuit board in there. It has a plastic sheet. All Mp3 players I've found have digital volume controls. In a power down situation, the volume one these tends to get set to the lowest setting. 9. Funny, I just had to build something like this. on Building A Museum Listening Station? · · Score: 5, Informative
For the National Yo-Yo Museum in Chico California, I had to build a listening station that would let the user put on head phones, and be able to choose tracks for quite a lot of music More than a standard audio CD could handle (50+ tracks). I had a budget of $75.00. I purchased a portable CD player that could handle MP3 CD's. The issue was which one. Since I needed to know tracks, and I wanted the title displayed I was limited a little, and I needed buttons that could be isolated. I found a rio player of some sort (don't remember the exact model) and I built a box out of maple (to match the other displays), the cover was a thin ( We tested tons.

Our solution cost about $60.00 with the wood for the case, the CD player was bought at best buy, and has been running flawlessly for 6 months now.
