CD sales numbers are pretty indifferent towards the amount of illegal copying. From what I've seen they're constant and only vary with the number of CDs released in a given timeframe.
If the corporations don't want us to think of music as a free thing maybe they should stop letting radio and TV stations play it, that would reduce the sense of "I can get it for free anyway".
There's a reason civil lawsuits are separate from criminal trials.
Besides, why the hell should the DoJ, a government institution, police what happens between other people, shouldn't only the "victim" be allowed to file a lawsuit over this? Hell, how does the govt even knopw when the copyright hlder actually wants a lawsuit? Most holders like keeping fan projects in a legal grey zone of implicit permission which lets them C&D the project at will but doesn't require them to shut it down before they really want to.
Well, as long as the DoJ would pursue infringements of ANY copyrights, not just those held by a select group of large corporations... Yeah, like that'll happen.
I doubt it'll keep up, just a momentary sales spike from the release of Ace Combat 6. Interestingly 360 games do appear in the software top 20 quite often.
I can't find a website listing it, only forum posts but Famitsu apparently puts the 360 at 17k sales compared to 16k for the PS3 for 29. oct to 4. nov. Proper articles on it will probably become more numerous soon. While I agree it doesn't mean much it does emphasize to me that both consoles are scraping along the bottom when it comes to sales numbers there so that even a spike that's small in absolute numbers is enough to move one over the other in the weekly charts.
Money is still zero sum unless one entity pays others by printing more money. The material that is traded is not necessarily zero sum since it is produced and consumed. Obviously "socialism" doesn't change either fact, it just changes the operations done with these while they are in the system.
I don't think either competitor has 10+ years lifetime. Everyone claims that at the beginning of their console's lifetime but usually there's no reason to keep the console around after the next one appears (unless you take #1, the PS2 still gets shelf space while the XBox and Gamecube disappeared almost instantly) as developer support migrates quickly and it's a bad idea to sit there with an old console when your competitors are coming out with new ones because yours gets viewed as outdated and everyone expects you to EOL it soon.
The PS3 may have 1-2 years until it becomes viable but that doesn't mean Sony won't have to kill it off when the next XBox comes out, simply to keep up with the times. Currently their platform may have advantages over the XBox but by then all the tech in the PS3 will have become cheaper than dirt and new tech is available that the XBox can capitalize on. Unless the PS3 grabs the #1 spot there won't be anyone around to make games for it at that time either.
So your VC purchases were worth less to you than your fear of a refurbished unit. What do you expect Nintendo to do about that? You haven't even verified if they'd send you a refurbished unit.
Hate speech means using language to incite hate and most likely violence towards some people. That's disturbing the public order and inciting violent crime. In the US that would be called being a public nuisance or whatever the prosecutor can think of, they'd avoid the word "speech" but do the same thing. You don't want people standing in your streets telling others to "kill the infidels" or blacks or jews or whites or whatever, if they manage to convert people they are starting a riot and possibly planning murder. That's enough to get you arrested, speech or not.
Why would you want a currency for the Americas? Most of those countries are not in a state that can support a stable currency and the strong existing currencies are already suffficiently available. The note that counters the Euro is the US Dollar, the de-facto standard for international trade (though it might not hold onto that position if it gets too instable).
Am I the only one who, due to the mention of chaos, thought of the Warhammer 40k Empire instead of the Star Wars one? Though I'd prefer living under the Star Wars one.
I would ignore what they spout. Every console maker announces that the console will live 10 years but unless the console takes #1 they usually abandon it by the time the next gen comes out.
You can still send your Wii in after the warranty expires, you just don't get the repairs for free. Just because you were too lazy to do it properly doesn't mean the system is faulty.

I once tried using only rail in Sim City CD edition and my advisor complained that I didn't have enough roads.
(i.e. certain types of houses 'kill' people, instead of provide housing)
So it's a game about Nazi Germany?
For that matter I hope it's the CD version with the video cutscenes on certain events.
There's a one man solution for raptors and zombies and it solves ninjas too!.
That security hole exists between keyboard and chair.

The 360 is completely dead in Japan.
Which fascinatingly is sufficient to outsell the PS3 this week.
I think that's not an issue, a leader failing is an example to others.
Reduced effect of the randomness does not mean he wants zero randomness but some games have more and some have less randomness affecting the play.
There's a card game of SoC, it's somewat different in the way it plays but is meant for 2 players.

Not that I'd mind mobs lynching marketers...

Terrorism is less dangerous than drunk drivers or some of the crap they put into your food.
Note that the Bible and Torah are similarily hateful. I guess it's the religious tradition present in many countries that prevented their banning.

Actually they'd probably attack you with a sickle since you have the hammer already.
