It is, although pretty adds to the fun. Was it huxley who coined the term (to paraphrase him not exactly) "emotioneering"? The truth is that what games really are: Emotional and intellectual stimulation engines.
Emotions aren't limited to prettyness, though. I think the feeling of physical involvement with e.g. Wii Sports also makes it more fun, mostly because physical activity releases adrenaline. Nonphysical games can produce adrenaline too but that takes the thrill and threat of a challenging game which seems to be an outdated design, replaced with games you can beat on your first try no matter how brain damaged you are. It's been a while since I had a normal game really raise my heart rate, back on the SNES and Gameboy they did that regularly. Many a game these days allows the player to shrug off such huge amounts of errors you'll never commit enough of them between health refills to actually lose. The newest Zelda doesn't even seem to try anymore once you're through the first 2-3 dungeons.
Just for reference, what does a 360 (Premium) currently cost in the US? Here in Germany the price of the premium has been dropped to 300€ (same as the core price, the core is discontinued I think) and I've even seen that come with a game (GRAW2) already.
You're talking about an adapter, look a bit closer at the system, it has a set of Gamecube controller ports on the side and the classic controller (that SNES analog looking thing) plugs directly in the expansion port of the Wiimote, same place the Nunchuk goes.

they had a bunch of Neo-Nazis hold a rally, which would probably land you in prison in many "free" countries in Europe.
Depends on how the neonazis do it. They regularly demonstrate in Germany and apparently are more likely to obey the laws than left-extremist demonstrations. The only issue is that every time the neonazis rally about ten to a hundred times as many nazi-haters rally and the police has a difficult job preventing them from reaching the neonazis and beating them up (guess that's called democracy).
Actually AMD sells a lot to private builders (may be receeding because of the Core chips beating AMD across the board), their marketshare with OEMs is pretty small, mostly because many of them get incentives to only sell Intel machines.
A store that opened a week after the PS3 launch here (Braunschweig, Germany) still has a huge pile of Wiis (I'd estimate around 60 units or so) next to a somewhat smaller pile of PS3s. Other stores do seem to be out of Wiis though while PS3s are ubiquitous even in stores in small towns.
Nope, Perrin Kaplan. She also claimed that the Wii will have no region lock. A day later Nintendo of Europe denied that (though I can't get rid of the feeling that the Wii was going to be region lock free until NoE objected).
Of course China shouldn't be allowed to but would you listen if you were told by an organization to stop something when the one who complained about you never heeded the organization's orders, either? China wants to build an economy that competes with the US and they've seen that one successful strategy of the US is to ignore the WTO when it pleases them. China will imitate that because they want to play by the same rules as their competition and in this case the rule is "international bodies are a way to get your power enforced, not curtailed".
If the US wants this complaint to have weight behind it they need to threaten trade sanctions if China does not follow up.
I doubt the hardcore demographic is less present on the Wii than other consoles. Sure, it's a lower percentage of the total sales but since most actual hardcore gamers (i.e. not just graphics whores who'd shun a game for looking bad independent of how it plays, a hardcore gamer would accept 2d sprites if the game was good, some would even take ASCII) are interested in the Wiimote and the gameplay it might enable they are likely to buy a Wii. Never mind that many hardcore gamers are likely to own more than one console anyway and the Wii will probably have the least overlap with the libraries of the other consoles so you get more difference for the money.
I'd say that's unlikely. Doom 3 was the game to pioneer normalmapping IIRC (in development, other games were released using it between the initial announcement and the final release of Doom 3) so it's pretty unlikely that there was much stock content around before then. Also some files were pretty specific. Why does STALKER have files named imp shot or hellgate?
I think the DS's battery life differs greatly between the "phat" and Lite. I've heard those 18 hours claims for Lites but my old style DS will barely last 5-6 hours on a full charge. It's not that much of an issue but I do notice that I have to recharge it much more often than my old GBASP.
What's to stop someone from creating a pseudogame that really is just a tax evasion scheme? Could a bank put a videogame into its online banking interface in order to evade the responsibilities of a bank?
One advantage of an artificial lifeform is that it can just face its creator and ask him for the meaning of its life.
If the knee keeps jerking you need to use a bigger hammer.
Or they just get robot children that have an off button.
The only difference between that and random mutation is that we'd be aware of what we're creating. Many species have created that which replaced them.
From what I heard several porn sites offer Wii-specific pages that probably include videos the Wii can play.
Thaat rumour has been verified by several people.

Non-Americans haven't heard of that.

Don't forget the wear on the system.

For other organizations the whole UN-Iraq debacle comes to mind.

Sonic Team isn't very exclusive and pretty much incapable of making a good game these days.

If they have any US presence they have to pay. Just because the source of income is illegal doesn't mean it's not taxable.
Sure you won't find Postal on their systems
No but Manhunt has already been announced and The Godfather is available.
V can be pronounced as either a w or an f, just as c can be pronounced as s or k and st can be pronounced as st or scht.
I pronounce Wii exactly like Vi. However, I don't pronounce XBox like Emacs.
