Normal 3 minute ad break? Oh how I wish, the last time I watched television (admittedly years ago) it was at 7-8 minutes and getting longer by the day.
Allowing the player to remove certain obstacles (in this case walls) necessitates new obstacles the player cannot remove easily in order to prevent the player from blowing a straight line from start to finish. Currently they're using walls and the like to stop you from going somewhere, if you could blow up the wall then they'd have to think of something else, probably a huge sea of fire or something.
As for the telephone pole of doom, well, the Gizmondo CEO found out the hard way that telephone poles are indeed instant doom.
At some point the FIFA games allowed unnecessary brutality, it was removed for later games. Probably because people were abusing it.
What I'm talking about... for starters, picture DOOM's E1M1. Say there was the exit we know, an exit behind the Imp Tower, a long meandering path towards the left of where you start, and maybe a "secret" exit as well. Granted, this might seem confusing, but a simple NSEW grid system could make this manageable for starters, and from there it could be iterated and re-iterated, each iteration becoming more and more transparent, until we are left with a single map, similar to ES: Daggerfall in size.
How about anime where gunfights can take hours with people blasting each other with rockets, plasma and antimatter cannons while they walk out of explosions unharmed and even a direct hit only scratches the paint on the armor a bit? Okay, not all anime but some shows do that. Of course they often involve robots or power armor so maybe that's justified...
I just love how, whenever somebody criticises some politicians, there are replies that say "Yeah? But the opposing party has done X!". Perhaps we just don't fucking care about what the opposing party does or does not? What does Clinton have to do with Bush? Why do people assume everyone that disagrees with them has a specific party association?
Can a drug addict just decide to stop taking drugs? It takes a number of conscious steps to get drugs and take them.
The body has various chemicals that can influence or override rational thought. If the urge becomes too strong it can make you think up rationalizations for your behaviour. It can make raping a child look like a good idea. If you want an every day example, ask a smoker why he isn't quitting despite knowing that it's bad for him. You'll hear numerous reasons but the real reason is just that they are addicted, that their urge to smoke changes the way they think and makes them believe that it's their choice and they can quit any time but they just don't want to.
Not every totalitarian state kills people and many reserve death for the more serious offenses. Even a totalitarian regime has its limits, pissing off the populace too much increases your chance of being killed by an angry mob. Whether that mob is acting by itself or led by a formerly loyal general of yours won't matter much.

I think it has also been proven ineffective because the subconscious has no brand awareness. A Coke ad could make you buy Pepsi if you prefer that.
You make the assumption that slashdotters RTFA.
Where's that quote from?
Hardly a new concept.

Metroid anyone?
Shouldn't the crate get blown to pieces instead if you use a rocket launcher?
Oh, come on, you know that not even Sony lets the Cell do the graphics.

Which parts does EVE lack?
Sounds a bit like the Metülisator.
That man is a real patriot! How else is he going to stop a plane that Al Qaeda hijacked?
Naah, much more fun: A button for releasing the engine. Good for clearing a roadblock.
If any of this is confusing, just give me a call and we'll drive to Vegas together
I'd rather not. That's bat country.
He's trying to stay in the spirit of the series.
What whiny teenage wimp is starring in Xenosaga? Sure, there's Junior but that guy seems to play more of a secondary role.

You've got a Birdo DS. Now it's still male but during the next few games the manual will start calling it a she.

The only thing worse than a relativist is a pacifist.
Yes because you have no right to believe that violence will land you in a bad place! You must kill! You must give in to your urges!

How many cellphones include accelerometers and how many have a camera?
Der Porsche, nicht das Porsche.
You can't say "it" and "nii" in the same post!
Because "Wii" doesn't have that "slaughter the burgeois!" undertone.
