To a collector, the collection is the fun, and the fond memories are inside those mint-condition original boxes. That row of original Star Wars figurines in their pristine presentation boxes are a point of pride and a symbol of an achievement.

I'm with you on this one, and I smashed the shit out of a lot of what would probably have been very valuable collector's items in my youth, all in the name of fun, but I do understand the collectors' mindset.

I could counter that with my cousin, who's around the same build as me so I'd expect within the 'correct weight for height' ratio as I'm about average weight for mine (6' 3" and around 13st). He's at the doctors constantly. Every time he gets the sniffles, he's down at the emergency room demanding antibiotics, antihistamines, anti-everything. If he falls over and something still aches in the morning, he's down there insisting they check it to make sure it's not broken.

In short, he's an idiot. I run, play football (soccer) and I box, and if I had his pain/illness threshold I'd never be out of the waiting room. I've met dozens of people like this - fat, thin, tall, short, whatever - all linked by their constant need to be fawned over by doctors. It's not a fat thing, it's an idiot thing. Some people just get 'owies' a lot more often than others, and make a bigger fuss about them when they do.

(Of course, both this post and the parent are both operating with very small sample sizes, so YMMV).

Anyone, easily. Before you mod me troll, it's nothing to do with the OS, it's to do with what people know. People know to click the blue 'e' for the internet, the blue 'W' to type a letter and so on. A whole generation of people have grown up using nothing but Windows, and so when you put them in front of something that doesn't work like Windows, they freak out and don't like it. The first steps towards breaking this are the sales of PC's with Linux on them, with which children will learn to use Linux, and thus will perceive that as 'the right way'. That is the way forward because, sadly, no matter how good Ubuntu gets, there are a lot of people out there that won't like it because they're too used to Windows.

Windows XP in it's current state IS pretty much rock solid. Ubuntu is not. Saying otherwise is just fooling yourself. It depends on what you're running. A default installation of Windows XP SP3 is pretty much rock solid, yes, but so is a default installation of Ubuntu. There are applications for Ubuntu that will lessen it's stability significantly (try about half of SourceForge), but if you're going to start counting them towards the stability of the underlying OS then Windows has to take responsibility for every shittily-coded VB app out there on the internet. Saying otherwise is just fooling yourself.

I'll take my -1, Offtopic mod now, but come on, it's got to start grating after a while - think about it: "yeah, we know X number of guys did this before you, but hey, you're the first BLACK guy!". It shows subtle ingrained racism and is just making out that black people are slower than the rest of us and deserve special praise when they achieve something other races can do without fanfare, like parents making a fuss over a slightly slow child managing to tie it's shoelaces. It's insulting, and people need to knock it off.
