  1. Re:Not sure how this works on Capacitors to Replace Batteries? · · Score: 0

This would work if the other plate was in the form of a fluid, such as an electrolytic capacitor.

  2. Re:Tar and feathers seems a tad extreme. on RIAA Sues Woman Who Has Never Used a Computer · · Score: 0

Today we have adhesives that replace tar in many applications. Perhaps some polyurethane foam and feathers would be more appropriate.

  3. Not really that enterprising on Retrofitting an iPod into a Geiger Counter · · Score: 0

"An enterprising hardware guy" Not really that enterprising. I looked over his site and all he's done is put some memory modules on a christmas tree, build a MAME cabinet, and put a camera in a tube attached to an overly elaborate mount to tow behind a boat. Like nobody has done any of those things before.

Well, hopefully this will just add to the pile that makes the RIAA look like the dogs they are. It's cases like this that make me think that the RIAA is in it's death throes.

  7. Re:Standard guage rail is MUCH better use of $ on Seattle Axes Monorail Project · · Score: 0

I agree with much of your comment, but unfortunately while it's technically possible to run heavy and light rail trains on the same tracks, the FRA regulations prevent it. Light rail uses cars that are not designed to the same impact ratings as heavy rail and due to regulations are not interchangable.

Wireless power transmission: It would be easy to use a high power laser and a photovoltaic cell tuned to the laser's frequency. It wouldn't be very efficient, but it would probably be more efficient than using a tesla coil.

  10. Re:It's called... on Sunlight in a Tube · · Score: 1

Actually I have a flashlight that was nicknamed "Sun in a Tube." It's just a 5 cell mag lite with li-so2 batteries and a 50W halogen lamp installed.

Hooray for the Enfields!!! I just don't like how the stock doesn't cushion the recoil and I end up with a sore shoulder after shooting 10 rounds or so.

  12. Re:adjust the timers on Self-Adapting Traffic Lights · · Score: 1

That "clunk" you heard is probably the contactor that actually switches the power to the different colors of lights. The timers could still be electronic, or even computer based.
