That way not a lot of extra weight is added and there is redundancy.

I can only compare to what I know from Belgium, Europe.
    1) The price only being for new customers? That is almost a standard, but it must be indicated.
    2) Paying extra for hardware lease? That is normal as well, as long as you have the option of using your own (or buy it from them). Otherwise it must be included.
    3) Taxes and all other costs must be included by law.
    4) Extra channels will cost extra

And yes, if you have a signed contract and newer deals are cheaper, you still will need to pay what you signed for. Just as if they woudl become more expensive.

Now what could happen is that there is a change in their pricing that makes it more expensive and they do not want to keep you at the same price or that there is a serious change in service . e.g. removing analog chanels to digitals or no more free email or whatever.

Then you will have the right to cancel AT NO COST and if you do not, you are entering a new contract.

So except for the not including part of the taxes (which is a general thing in the US vs Europe)

  12. Re:How about this.. on Supreme Court To Consider Data Aggregation Suit Against Spokeo · · Score: 1

You DO have the answer. Making the sahring illegal.

I have been in situations where a company bought the customers from another company. The way data was transfered from one to another was very limited. Strict rules applied of what was allowed to be transfered and that those who did not want to be transfered were allowed to not have their data transfered as default.

Companies who do not comply will first get inspection, then fines and it could result in them loosing their license for a period and CxO's will be held reposible and might face prison time.

That last one will most likely never happen as before that the company will be already closed and/or fines will have been paid if they not already stop doing it.

(If not clear, this is in Belgium, Europe)

  13. How about not selling data on Supreme Court To Consider Data Aggregation Suit Against Spokeo · · Score: 1

Why not make it illegal to sell data. Yes, this also goes for Advertising Companies. On top of that, the only data that should be allowed to be retained in that which is needed for service of the customer.

In Belgium contacting a poerson that is not a customer is very tricky and in most ways, not possible. It is only possible if there is a (business) relationship between the two. Otherwise it is basically a no-no.

Also selling of data is extermely restricted.

e.g. if I buy at the supermarket, the company I buy from will not know who I am the next time, because they are not allowed to retain the cardnumber. They get the transaction number.
The Credit Card Company will see where and when I bought something, but not what.

And in Belgium the Card Companies are not even allowed to run a analysis on where people spend their money (some other European countries DO allow that) to make e.g. an offer for people using the card mainly on the Interwebs.

I know it is a very socialist idea of putting people before companies and it will never happen in the US. What do people think? That the US government (who makes the laws) is there for the people by the people?

By train it would take 1:31.

However I do not live at the station nor at the airport. And those will not be my destination. Say I would go from my home in Leuven to the Eifel tower.
    Flight:
Taxi to the airport : 20 minutes (If there is traffic, make that an hour)
Time before departure : 1 hour
    Flight 55 minutes.
Getting out of the airport : 15 minutes
Taxi to the eifeltower: 36 minutes
Total time: 3h06 without any trafic. With trafic, add 1 hour easily.

Train: Walk to the station 5 minutes
Train from Leuven to Brussels, change to train to Paris and arriva in Paris: 2:00
Bublic transport to Eifetower : 35 minutes
    Total time:2:40

So even now the train is already faster. And these trains "only" drive at 320. I also have taken a taxi, instead of parking and loosing extra time for that and picking up a rental car.

To compare: by car it is 3 hours and 20 minutes. Yes, I am aware that other people do not live 5 minutes walking away fron the train station. Yes, YMMV. The thing is that you need to look at door to door times. I have not even looked at prices. Lowest price I saw to Paris was 29EUR (31.13USD)
